Does anyone know anythng about the White sewing machines? There is a dealer near where I work that sells White,Husqcarna and Viking? He has a model 1740 WHite that is pretty reasonable and the case even comes apart and makes into a table type area for more space for the fabric.May I please ask what needle up/down means? I have an old school, heavy duty singer that weights a ton, is noisey but has been faithful but way to heavy to lug to a class I just joined and no case, plus makes a lot of noise

I have a Janome MC6600 and I love it. I have only one complaint - when I use 50 wt. thread the thread sometimes slips out of the thread take up lever (that arm thinger). But my BFF has a Viking and hers does the same thing when she uses 50 wt. This doesn't happen a lot to me - maybe 4 times in the 16 months I've had it.

I also have a Juki TL 98Q on a quilting frame. I haven't used it on anything other than that but she's a good one. She does NOT like the long staple Coats & Clark thread.

I did get to a dealer to ask questions and he pointed me towards the Janome MC6600. I got to play with it a little and I have to say, I am in love! Probably if I'd had the money right there, I would have bought it. He did also explain to me that Janome makes Kenmore to the specs that Sears wants so they can sell an inexpensive machine. I still do love my Kenmore, but I'm definately campaigning for the MC6600. I think it will be a good investment in the long run and it never hurts to have a couple of machines around!

We recently went shopping for some fat quarters for a quilt I'm starting for my D and SIL. The store sold Janome Sewing/Quilting machines..and they have a 6600 Memory Craft that my husband got very interested in looking at. I would love to have a new machine..but I am in such a quandry. I have owned an sewed for years on Singers. The last one I bought was a Quantum XL 1000. I have been VERY disappointed in it. It has NOT stood up to usage of any kind, and I paid a great deal for it. I am really interested in the Janome MC 6600..but I wish someone would give me some pointers on maybe some OTHER machines that would work to piece and machine quilt. What about the Baby Locks that El uses in her classes. I only used one one time..at a class in Padukah..it was nice..but I don't really remember alot about it. I need some tips here girls. What does everyone ELSE recommend???????

Why did Eleanor change from Elna to babylock?

I think Elna was sold to another company. I guess Baby Lock make El a deal she couldn't refuse.
