LA Book

Post by sidesaddles » Sat Apr 10, 2010 6:08 pm

Can anyone suggest a good book on LA quilting? I need something that will start me right from step one on through. Like LA Quilting for Dummies.

if you find one I would love it. I don't have a LA mine is a short arm on a frame but could use some techniques. I can use pantos and free hand meander but would love to learn how to use stencils, start stop and do straight line quilting

Have you seen any of the Pam Clark videos? I only have a short arm system but it sure gives good ideas and information that can be modified to fit a smaller system.

I found lots of help from the book, "Ultimate Guide to Longarm Machine Quilting" by Linda V. Taylor. She uses a Gammill, like I have, but the information can be used for most any longarm.

I finally got my machine and frame set up. I got the "Ultimate Guide" for Christmas and it really has some good informaion. Also watched tons of videos by Linda Taylor and Pam Clarke. They are very good.
Now I just need to get up my nerve to jump in with both feet. lol

You can look in books and on the internet to get information and ideas but being a good quilter takes practice practice practice. I use paper and pencil to practice before I do it with my machine. I really need lots more time to practice. I am NOT a good quilter and am still learning something every time. I have an HQ-16.
