October lotto - winner is..........

Valerie - 4 so far. Hoping for a couple more

Welcome to October, we are getting into my most favorite time of the year! Fall, love, love, love it. The colors are spectacular!
We will be doing the Bears Paw block in fall colored batiks. I am posting a screen shot of fall colored palette that I found online. Feel free to use any of these colors. Background should be more on the fall side such as light tans, beige, creams, etc. Please do not use white. You can make your blocks all one color as I did here, or you can make them scrappy. I will be doing some scrappy and will post when I get them done. This is a 12 inch finished block so be sure yours is 12.5 when mailing. I found it extremely easy and quick to make. It will take you more time to choose fabric than make the block. Since we are now getting into the holiday time of year, I will be trying to choose easier blocks.

Valerie, looks like your background is also batiks, right?
I need to hurry to Texas so I can make some. Thanks for posting early. I'm gathering my stuff up to take to Texas. Batiks will be in a tote.

Looks pretty darn easy to me! I might be able to squeeze in a few !
quick question.. is the big square 6.5"? I can figure out the rest based on that corner.

I want to clarify Valerie.
Is one claw 12.5 inches unfinished? Or are we making a 12.5 inch block using 4 claws and the strips in between. I do have my fabric ready to go

Re: October lotto
Guess I forgot to post the link. Hang on. It is YouTube pattern.
Can't figure out how to copy and paste the link from my phone. It is The Sewing Room channel on you tube.
The Paw part is 8.5 inches, the claws are 7.5 inch background with 7.5 inch main. Put pieces together right sides together sew a quarter inch around all 4 edges and then do the diagonal cut both ways to get 4 half square triangles. Square those to 4 and a 1/2 and the background square in between the 2 sets of claws is a 4 and a 1/2 inch square.
I will keep trying to figure out how to get the link.
It is 12 and a 1/2 inches unfinished. Do not put the border on.

Re: October lotto
Great tutorial Valerie, she explains it very well.
Fabric A (paw and claw)
One 8 1/2 inch square (paw)
One 7 1/2 inch square (claws)
Fabric B (background)
One 7 1/2 inch square (claws)
One 4 1/2 inch square for the corner.
12 1/2 inches unfinished.
I will work on these soon.
