For July, as summer is in full swing I have chosen the https://www.bordercreekstation.com/the- ... e-2022.htm block. This is a 10 inch finished block so 10 1/2 unfinished. Once I picked out the fabric and cut it, it took less than 30 min to sew together so it is quick and easy. I think the only challenge is making sure before you sew, that colors are in the correct place.

Color/Fabric selections:

light back ground, try to stick to whites or creams
Corners must be green. Lets stay away from anything too light but use mediums/darks when possible. Pay attention that it blends well with your block colors.
The other fabrics should be florals. As you can see I used a mix of dark and light florals and like the way the block looks. You do what is pleasing to your eye. This will be a scrappy quilt.
Feel free to ask questions

Val, this block looks extremely doable. I am in! I love that you are choosing blocks that scrap friendly!

But I already have one question Concerning background fabric. I printed off the pattern from the link you posted. For background, there are several options in the pattern. Would you like each block to be all the same background, two different backgrounds, or are scrappy backgrounds OK?

I hope you are starting to feel better and can actually enjoy sewing these beautiful blocks!

Maryz I think within the block the fabric should be the same. But not all blocks have to have the same background.

Does that make sense? 🤔

I am trying to be as broad with fabric choices as I can. I don't want people to not be able to participate because they don't have a certain fabric. And fabric shopping? Who wants to do that? LOL

Thanks, Val. Yes, it's clear now. The pattern gives four different options for choosing background fabric and I didn't want to be the odd quilter out! lol!

Yesterday morning I started rooting through my scraps and found enough suitable fabrics to make four blocks. The rooting, the cutting, and the sewing all together took about 2-1/2 hours. It's a fun block! It was tempting to make more but I was drug off to the appliance store to go dishwasher shopping and never got back to the sewing room. I'm going to wait a week or so before I mail them. Until, you know - July.

LOL, yes Mary, I think July is a good time to send. You may also feel like making a few more.

So if both of your scrap bins are dwindling, and we are making the same blocks, how is mine growing? I have to finish up my calendar blocks and then will make some more of these.

😂 while my scrap is dwindling, it's not dwindling at a high rate of speed. And if I ever empty one bin there is one more right behind it

It was a busy morning, but I had time to cut enough green and background for 3 blocks. Tomorrow I am going to pick flowers
