Hello Pals - YES it is almost APRIL!!! The cold wintery weather seams to give me a yearning for SPRING Colors :) With Mother's Day coming closer I remember the beautiful flowers my kids sent me. My mother was born in 1932 so I thought it would be nice to go Stash Diving for 1930's Scraps and/or Fabrics in your Stash!!
If you don't have any, please let me/us know so there will be some on the way to you in time to make some blocks. Let's have some FUN sewing Mother's Day Flower blocks!!!

This is one of the many Flower Basket blocks to make but I love this one because of the squares in the middle and the HST's on the outside. It is a ...
* 12.5" block: This is a great block to practice, practice, practice 1/4" Seams and Points. They are very important in piecing this block. Even though you need to watch these seams and points it is a FUN block to make.
There are some tips to follow as you make the block.
*** Measure each block as you sew a row and then sew it to another row to make sure they MEASURE 2"s
*** The outside strips - cut at 2 3/8" to give you room.
*** Sew the triangles on to the Strip and then sew a larger triangle to the bottom right corner. I need to change mine. Your ...

* Fabrics: 1930's light to medium-light flowers
* Background: Any white to light tan with any tiny prints (Mine is light tan with green polka dots)
* Your Basket does not need to be 1930's as long as it looks like a Basket (so many kinds to choose from)
* NO SOLIDS - - NO DARKS
* Here is my first block BUT until I can fix it Please DISREGARD the way the bottom right corner is finished. Please Sew the Basket Triangles on to the Outside Strips. Then measure and cut ??? Square to cut diagonally and sew to the bottom right corner. *** I also need to fix the Basket top to meet with the points of the squares. Then my block will measure 12.5" My apologies

WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED - - -
* Each of the Blocks are = 12.5" unfinished blocks. PLEASE Make adjustments to get to at least 12.5"
* Make sure you MEASURE a 12.5" block that has 1/4" points on the edges.
* Please MEASURE to check the block size - BUT DO NOT SQUARE THEM UP
* Attach a name label to the upper FRONT Top Corner
* Please have them TO ME by the LAST DAY of the month.

WAYS to EARN TICKETS
* 1 ticket = Signups
* 1 ticket = Share a picture of your block
* 2 tickets = if your blocks measure 12.5"

HAPPY STITCHING!!!! Let the Flowers Have their DAY!!!!!

I am surprised you are still holding swaps and Lotto during this corona virus concern.

I think as long as people are cautious it is okay. I wiped my swap package with chorox wipe before opening. Those who are sick should self refrain from participating. I am fine with continuing.
I am continuing to get other mail, bills and more bills.

I am ok with swaps and the lotto as well. Participation is not mandatory so if everyone uses their best judgement going forward it's all that can be asked.

Ok Teresa, you know I am going to ask a question. I often need directions dumbed down. you said "* Your Basket does not need to be 1930's as long as it looks like a Basket (so many kinds to choose from)" does this mean any basket pattern? and does this mean any fabric? sorry, just a little confused.

Thanks,
Chriss

Good morning Chriss and Valerie.
Thanks for joining this month. I know our fabrics are safe so as long as you are feeling well I have no fear of anyone joining.

Chriss. I meant to say the basket part of the basket doesnโ€™t need to be โ€˜30s. I have a check that Iโ€™ll be using as well. Something that will separate the flower section from the basket section will be great ๐Ÿ‘

Oh my That is so true!!! Ever since this started and the raid on Costco toilet paper we have never gotten there on time to get even one package. I even had a nightmare getting on top of the checkout counter begging for 2 packages. One for me and one for my friend. How scary is that ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ง๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ง๐Ÿ˜ฒ
Happy you are squared away ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

Valerie. Thank you for your wise words. It is true. We get mail everyday.
How are you doing with 30โ€™s fabrics. Are they close at hand in your storage shed????

Velda - Thank you for airing your concern. I figured we have all had our fabric for a long while. I know for me I havenโ€™t left my house.

If you are concern please feel free to count this one out.
If anyone feels the same way please donโ€™t join.
When I get my mail I wipe it down then open it. You can also do this.

It would be nice if pals told me they were joining or not joining so I am not in limbo.
Thank you All!!!

This is always a choice for you.
