Good Morning all!!
I ask you to please keep our Lotto pal in prayer as she travels to NJ for the Memorial of her 40 yr old Newphew. So young to leave this earth. Her Dad is also in hospital and she is not sure he will make it. Prayers of Comfort and Peace. You are never alone.

Rick - Very happy you told us your name! I just found it out earlier today when I received your package!!! BeeeeeeeUtiful Fabric choices and colors.
Just a small Hiccup - You were to follow the Sample picture and use green on both sides of the center. If you wanted to add the Gold it was to be a print that had both colors.
With that being said - They are absolutely perfectly usable and I very Much Sew Wish I had thought to put Gold on one side and Green on the other or even make Gold on both sides to go opposite the green blocks. Love your Creativity - BRILLIANT!!! I know many will Love them as much as I do and I hope the Hand of the Picker chooses my name as one of the winners because I will be making more of these blocks to add to my winnings!!!! The possiblities are endless!!!
Now as the Hostess I do have to say - WELCOME AGAIN but please be careful next month and if you have any questions or ideas please share them with the group. We all love to hear the creative ideas flowing. ALL blocks are ALWAYS used and I know everyone will agree :) :) :)

Welcome Rick. It's great to have another new Lotto Pal. Also Linda/Rose92, I understand this is your first one, too. It is great to have some newbies this month.

I will be happy to use Rick's blocks, if I am a lucky winner. I still remember when I first joined, I made a few mistakes. It is always important to read Teresa's instructions carefully.

And ask a lot of questions, 'cause Teresa doesn't mind, do you???? We sometimes even help you to make those instructions even more clear. LOL

I finished my year-end Lotto Quilt, so hop on over to the photo sections and take a peek. For, you, Rick, you can see all the blocks we did last year. Each month, I made one block for myself so I could put this quilt together.

I decided to practice my Quilt as you Go skills to put it together.

Hugs
Vel

Hi Velda - Wonderful posting :) :) Yes! I love questions to make it easier for everyone to stitch up some beauties :) :)
I can't wait to see your year end quilt. I have not made a quilt as you go so I am eager to see yours and if it is easier that sandwiching and quilting.

Jacquie - I LOVE your hearty Scottish welcome to Rick! Linda made some wonderful blocks as well and I know they will go beautifully with everyone's!!! How awesome it is to have "zinger's" in a quilt. Time will tell who the winner's are. I am hoping ...

Hints for next month? Hmmm I am thinking ... ... ... :) :) :)

BEcause we've been traveling home from Texas for the last of January and all of February, I wasn't able join the lotto this month, but wanted to welcome our new member, Rick! We've had several men join our forum over the years, most notably another Rick! Vinae's brother, Lowell, is an awesome quilter! We even had a 10 yr old boy here and he made a lot of quilts. And don't forget Jay, the truck driver! I love the masculine perspective that men bring to our art. My husband, Bill, quilts, too. He doesn't piece, but does the long-arming for me. He uses a Q-bot on our Nolting quilting machine. and I've come to rely on his opinion for a lot of quilty things.

and Rick, did you know that Ginny Beyers (I think that's her correct name) purposely adds bits of bright colors here and there to her quilts, usually orange, to add some zing? She says it sparks up the quilt and delights the eye! Ginny is a huge name in the quilting world. Sounds like you have the eye of a professional already! Nice going!

Hopefully we'll have our trailer, and the resulting chaos in our house, all cleaned up in time to join the next lotto!

See you next month, y'all!

WOW Mary! Welcome HOME!!!! I always love it when you come by and share some great information and a touch of history. I knew of Lowell but not Jay, Rick and the 10 year old. How wonderful it is to hear of a young one starting to quilt. I wonder what they are all doing now :)

How did you get Bill into Longarming for you. Do you use .QLI for your patterns? Rob will help me put a quilt on now because of the Red Snappers. Never when I was pinning. He says I do it much better than he would :)
I know of Ginny Beyer but didn't know of the bright colors she adds to give the quilts more zing. I will have to google her to check it out :)

Will look forward to seeing you in March :) :) WOnder what QIAD block I will choose :) :)

Thanks for the memories of guys who have been on this website. Rick, welcome. I always enjoy seeing a guy's different point of view on quilting. The guys just seem to have a knack of doing unusual, eye catching color matches and patterns.

The other Rick was Rickster. I met him in person, lived in Nebr. For awhile he worked part time at a quilt shop and I think taught classes. He redid some very old patterns from just looking at an old quilt and was very good at it. But sadly, that quilt shop went out of business. No idea where he is now but hopefully still quilting.

The 10 yr old was Gavin. His grandma taught him to quilt. They live over near St Louis somewhere. Don't remember her name. Gavin started quilting when he was about 6 or 7. Wanted to do a quilt for his teacher. He always made things to give to others. And he was very very good at it. Hope he is still quilting. We need to pass our quilting skills on to our grandkids to keep quilting alive for the future generations.

Google - Rob Appell or Man Sewing and you should be able to pull up lots of tutes and ideas and products from a man's point of view. He makes all kinds of things and some of his quilts are wing it as you go but really interesting. He finds a diff way to do quilting too.I find it very refreshing to see things from a diff viewpoint.

This looks like a lot of green type quilting this month. Had hoped to join in but life got in the way again. Enjoy seeing and reading about all of your progress.

Rick, I think the gold will be fantastic to break up the sea of green. Much like the gold in autumn of the aspens in the midst of the pine trees, a touch of beauty that draws the eye. I have more gold than green at my house so, not sure could even do many green ones.

Gotta scoot, Again, welcome Rick and others. Good luck and hope you win. Thanks Teresa for doing the lotto each month.

Hugs to all and God bless as you quilt and inspire the rest of us.
Shirley Mae

Shirley Mae - HELLO!!!! Always a pleasure to see you and to read such a wealth of information from you as well as Mary. WHen Rob and I took our cross country trip I had hopes of stopping in at Rick's shop. It is so sad to hear it closed. So sad to hear any quilt shop closes.
I am happy to hear that life is keeping you busy hpefully in a happy and healthy way.

So many time our Lotto block are added with other blocks to make a quilt. WIth Rick's inspiration of the color gold it will make a wonderful quilt. I had started making my own gold blocks in hopes that I would win which made me smile when I saw his. I AM EXCITED!!!

Valerie - I was just telling Rob that I need to get in touch with you today if your package had not arrived. PLus you usually send me the tracking info. So I Thank You for posting that you hadn't mailed it yet. Whew!!!!! I don't like the feeling on the mail loosing packages.
Thank you also for the reminder that I need to order more Flat Rate Padded Envelopes from the Post Office online. I only have a couple left. You can't go wrong with Free envelopes shipped to you for Free and Flat Rate especially when your kids live across country.

No quilting today or tomorrow for me. I have a HUGE bandage on my toe and foot that starts throbbing if it is not elevated. I am happy to go through the healing knowing the toe will not hurt anymore and I can wear shoes with no pain. Rob said he will make me Chocolate Chip Cookies. What a guy!!!!

We are HALF WAY through the month - HAPPY STITCHING!!!!
