I'm ready to start cutting the background, but I can't remember what size to cut it. Once that is resolved I can start fusing mine together.

Oooooow Rosebud!!

I'm so glad you wrote that!! I'd forgotten the background fabric was a different size!! I would have gone ahead a cut the regular 12.5"!!! Good girl!!

It says in the book;

Block background
(7.5" X 9.5" finished size)
Cut background pieces 10" x 12".

I hope this helps...

Chickie, great idea to make a placemat.

I bought thread. I was going to hand applique but was worried it wouldn't hold well.

I have 10 fused and ready to sew. I was able to reuse the hands and feet from my faux pas, but had to retrace everything else.

Here's an update on my progress. I have 7 of 15 pieces put together onto the background and getting ready to start putting piece 8 on. Woohoo, passed the half way point.

Had to go pay some bills and stop for a few groceries after work so I was unable to get anything done on my Sues today.

MaryRose, you neglected your Sues?

Mine only come out to play on the weekends so mine are neglected too.

I'm sure they will tell Tina's Sues all about their woes.

Oh yes, and they sure let me know about it. I'm sure they will talk it over with Tina and her Sues as well when they get there.

Mine are all cut out and waiting to be ironed down.
I just need to finish off my 'Antique Key' blocks for Vinae (which are nearly done) and I'll be good to start playing with my Sues...
It's all go here at 'sewing central'!!

Oh dear, I am looking at the size of the background pieces for the first half of Sue's and it says this:
Block size 8x10 unfinished so to make sure you have it big enough for it to be squared up by the receivers. For example if you are new to applique, you can cut your blocks 9x11 prior to appliqueing and you will have plenty of block with no worries.
But as I read below it says:

Block background
(7.5" X 9.5" finished size)
Cut background pieces 10" x 12".

I started cutting mine at 10 X 11. Help. Are mine okay to use?
I don't want to do a bunch and then find out they are all wrong. It would appear to me that they will be fine, especially if the end block is 7.5 X 9.5.
Thanks. Joan
