Hi Pals and Welcome to the NOVEMBER LOTTO! We are still thinking FALL Colors with a touch of SEWING NOVELTY Fabrics. Chestnut browns, Burnt Oranges, Golden Yellows, Many Greens/Fall Reds, Purples. Oh so many!!
The Poetic Bribe this month is to share a Fall Memory :)
Here is the Sample Block made by Ysabel. I invited her back to the Lotto FUN and I love sewing with friends!
* A tip: This is NOT a forgiving Block so please DO NOT undercut your fabrics; watch your 1/4" seams and your 1/4" seam allowances of your points on the edges
Image
Your Star block is made by Cutting a
1 - 6.5" center Sewing Novelty Fabric
4 - 3.5" corner background blocks
4 - Flying Geese (we made these in October using El's Method)
Star Points Fabric = 9"sq
Background Geese Fabric = 7.5"sq

If you don't have the yardage fabric then you can use the scrappy methods. There are many ways to make them. The choice is yours. Here is one of them.
Cut (4) 3.5" x 6.5" rectangles for the geese (Background fabric) and (8) 3.5"sq for the Star Points Fabric.
* UNFINISHED Block size: 12.5"sq
* Fabrics for CENTERS: Any Sewing Novelty Print.
* Fabrics for Stars: Crdntng Fall Medium Blenders/TOT's Tiny Print's
* Fabrics for Bckgrd: Crdntng Fall Medium Blenders/TOT's Tiny Print's
* Please No Solids or Fabrics that Read Solids

HERE ARE THE POINTS TO FOLLOW:
* This is NOT a SWAP. It is a place to practice and enjoy making new or old blocks and luckily WIN enough to make a FABulous QUILT!!!!
* Sign-ups let me know who wants to have FUN unless Emergencies get in the way.
* COMMUNICATION is the Key. There is NO stupid question so please ask away and let everyone know how you are doing.
* PLEASE "Name Tag" each block to the FRONT TOP corner and Place ALL in a LARGE BAGGIE. Mailing labels are great for this :)
* SEND $2-$3 to help with shipping the sets to the WINNER'S

WAYS to RECEIVE your WINNING tickets ...
* 1 ticket = Sign-up is a show of interest if time allows you
* 1 ticket = for each block
* 2 tickets = for each block after #4
* 1 tickets = if you share a Fall Memory
WAYS to RECEIVE EXTRA TICKETS
* We would love to have some Newbies come join the FUN!!! So if you invite a Pal to the LOTTO who hasn't been part of the Lotto this year and you both make at least 4 blocks you will both receive 4 extra tickets - YEA!!

ENJOY the FUN and anticipation of WINNING enough blocks for a quilt!!!
If I missed anything or my wording is confusing please let me know so I can change it. This is greatly appreciated :) :)

I've been looking at the block and patterns online, is it a 3" corner blk, and 6" centre block? I'm good to go if it is :)

Jacquie, I noticed in the October Lotto thread, Teresa mentioned the Nov Lotto (it was still 'upcoming' then) and she said the center block is 6-1/2" square.

That looks easy enough!

I know I have some novelty fabric around here somewhere!

I bet if you did El's flying geese... they would work perfect for this. the 3.5x6.5" ones... I love El's FG!!

Thank you Mary for letting Jacquie know about the November Heads-up. I hope to see you joining us this month :) :) :)

Maryq - El's way is great and you get 4 FG her way. There are many great methods depending on if you are using yardage or if you are using up your scraps.

Marcia - Would love to see you join in for this Lotto

Jacquie - Lovely to see you joining us. I know you just LOVE making these Flying Geese so the block will be a joy for you :) :)

Your Star block is made by Cutting a
1 - 6.5" center Sewing Novelty Fabric
4 - 3.5" corner background blocks
4 - Flying Geese (we made these in October using El's Method)
Star Points Fabric = 9"sq
Background Geese Fabric = 7.5"sq

If you don't have the yardage fabric then you can use the scrappy methods. There are many ways to make them. The choice is yours.
Cut (4) 3.5" x 6.5" rectangles for the geese (Background fabric) and (8) 3.5"sq for the Star Points Fabric.

Both ways are GREAT!!!

I've had a play, and made one sample block up to now for size.
It's a smidging under the 12.5" so I shall frog this one, and get it to measure correctly.
I'm not on my regular machine at present, so that may be the problem. I'm on my tiny portable machine as my 'big girl' has gone on holiday for a servicing :)

PERFECT Sample Block Jacquie!! LOVE the Fabrics!!! Sorry about frogging. It is tough not sewing with your Baby. Hope she comes home soon.
I know for me there is a big difference when I sew over at Jamie's on my Mini Janome. I can't move my needle over the same way I do on my Janome at home. I don't use a quarter inch foot. After learning how to move my needle over I line up the fabric at the edge of the foot. I am sew much more accurate this way.
HAPPY SEWING DAY!!!!
