Hi Pals - Thank you ALL for such an awesome beginning of the year we had in January!!! I am THRILLED!!!!
February was a tough one to choose a block for. Sew many wonderful choices and suggestions. I had to put them in a jar and pick one.
We will be making The Disappearing "4" Patch. There are a number of tutorials out there but I like this one because it starts with a 7.5" square to make a 12.5+" block that will easily be squared up by the winners.

********* MODIFICATION to tutorial instructions because we all have different 1/4" seams I made a CHANGE to the tutorial:
When cutting your lines after sewing your 4 Patch ... Make your CUTS by placing the 1.75" line on your ruler on the CENTER LINE. Do this for each cut ... this way everyone's center 4 patch square will be the same 3.5" after all the cuts are made. Continue sewing with the rest of her tutorial instructions :)
********* You could also make your blocks 7.25". Make a sample one first just to make sure because of your 1/4" seam allowance.
http://chock-a-blockquiltblocks.blogspo ... patch.html

* Block size = 12.5"+ unfinished blocks - Do Not square up
* Fabrics are WASHED TOT's (Tone on Tones) and Prints
* Colors are any fabrics that say "Valentines Day". Hearts, Valentine Flowers in it plus, reds, pinks, whites, chocolates. I have even seen greens that have hearts in it.
* No Fabrics with a black background, Solids or Metalics
* Please MEASURE to check the block size BUT DO NOT SQUARE THEM UP
* Attach a name label to the upper FRONT corner of EACH SET of blocks
* This month you will SEND $2 to help with shipping to Winners
* Please have them to me by the LAST DAY of the month.

* 1 ticket = Signups by 1th of FEBRUARY (no commitment obligation)
* 1 ticket = for each block
* 1 ticket = for every block that has a heart of any kind in it
* 1 ticket = if your block reaches me by Thursday the 28th

Here are some ideas of some fabrics and also some green fabrics and a peak at the brown. Any combination will work plus any fabrics you might have from your stash.

Here is my first one. WooHoo!!!! FUN!!!!! I did open my seams which made for a nice flat block. I also have a Janome 6600 and I set my seam at 6.1. I could cut the blocks at 7.25" and still have enough to square the block to 12.5". But don't take my word. Make a test block first as we all have different 1/4" seams. ENJOY!!!! P.S. The block is straight. The picture is crooked :) :) :)

your block is lovely!! i really like the crispness of it!!

i have a question...
teresa, would you like us to keep to just 2 different fabrics for each 12.5" blocks like you have done. one white, one other colour...

the tutorial has used 3...

ok, the pieces of fabric i got for this lotto are only big enough to get one 7.5" square out of each :(
therefore my blocks will be made up of 4 different types of fabric... hey ho...

here is my trial block finished... (i squared it up to 13", don't worry!!)

OK, I'm hooked!!! I have to try this one, too! I had a tutorial from the Missouri Quilt Co. that was a different "disappearing nine patch" made with a charm pack. Hmmmmm! this one is quite different. Must try this!! Actually, I am going to try both of them!!!

I just found out I have a project ahead. My sister told me yesterday, there is a baby shower in my future. She is going to be a Great-Grandma and I will be invited to the baby shower soon. Thought I might make a quilted changing pad that rolls up to stow in the purse or bag. uses velcro to secure it closed.

Oh what fun! I can make this block to enter and then buy more fabric for baby colors and stitch away on my gift. Sounds like fun!!!
