***************************************************************
Welcome to the Month of March’s Block Lotto!!!! You all seemed to be very eager so let the FUN BEGIN ….
In March we are thinking of April. It is the month of EARTH DAY and EASTER with lots of colors and all the choices of the delicious Easter Eggs - Mmmmm - So with the suggestions of a few we have come up with this …

You have 3 choices in which to choose from. You can make One, Two or all – keeping in mind to keep the blocks you send me in sets of 2’s … Funny though it all works out in the end.

Here are the choices that you can find on the LEFT side of the page as scroll down at this link - http://scrapquilts.com/'>http://scrapquilts.com/</a>
* 30's PINWHEEL: (Perfect colors / 12.5” block)

* CROWN OF THORNS: (Great colors for the season / 12.5” block)
You can find the directions a bit easier to see at the quilters cache site but I like the look of the center square being 1 piece with 4 corners attached using similar colors seen on the scrapquilts.com site.
http://www.quilterscache.com/C/CrownofT ... Block.html

* FOOL'S SQUARE: the colors are perfect in the scrapquilts.com page. (instructions for the bigger 10” blocks can be found - http://www.quilterscache.com/F/FoolsSqu ... Block.html</a> Please add an extra strip to each side using the same color of fabric you used in the center of the edges to make it 12.5”)
***** Also ... If you are doing the Fool's Square ... not all the sections that look like the Tulip need to be the same color. You can make them different - Creativeness at work!

COLORS TO CHOOSE FROM ARE - THINK SPRING - Use the colors in the links as suggestions.
* Springtime Light Shades of Florals with WOW for the BACKGROUND.
* Medium Light shades of Pinks, Blues, Yellows, Oranges and Purples of the Easter season.
* Green TOT's to use as grass to celebrate Earth Day.
* A light shade of brown if you do the Crown of Thorns.
**********************************************************************
As always when making your blocks ...
* HAVE FUN!!!
* Make as many blocks as you would like
* Keep an eye on your measurements as you go.
* DON'T SQUARE UP YOUR BLOCKS - Just make sure they measure 12.5"+. The winner squares them up when she sews them together :)

* 1 ticket for early sign-ups
* 1 ticket for every block you send
* 1 ticket for sending visible $2 to help with shipping :)
* 1 ticket for bribes to the "Hand of the Picker" :)
* 1 ticket if the blocks are in my hands by the LAST DAY of the MONTH
* 1 extra ticket if your blocks measure 12.5" or more BEFORE you send them to me. This is A MUST.

************ A CHALLENGE For EXTRA TICKETS ...
* 2 extra tickets (for every block) if your points meet and you have the 1/4" seam on the outside edges for sewing all the blocks together - Do I hear El's "Ooooooooo's"?

HAPPY STITCHING!!!!

question...
does the 30's pinwheel HAVE TO BE in 30's fabrics? or can it be in the florals??

Welcome Mel and Jacquie!!

Jacquie - Actually after tossing back and forth some options with Valerie we came up with these and yes it was very difficult to pick just one. They are also different degrees of complexity so therefore the option is yours to choose.

No the pinwheel does not have to be 30's. I am hoping to keep it in the lovely floral family but do not want to put to many restrictions on you. If you use 30's then please just use the Florals.

Great questions! Happy to see you back with us!

Like Maryq, I would like to try these.....not sure which ones yet.

The Fool's Square looks like little tulips! These will be fun with florals.

Have Fun,

Welcome Mary, Valerie and Linda!!!

Mary - That is what I was hoping you would say :)

Valerie - Just couldn't decide which one I liked best so I offered up all 3 in the hopes that it would be a very FUN and colorful month

Linda - You are right! They do look like Tulips! How Wonderful!!! Florals are the ticket to these being FABulous Blocks.

****** The only block that needs the extra strips added to the sides is the Fool's blocks to bring it up to 12.5". When you look at the picture in the Scrapquilt.com page you see the edges use a rectangle of the floral. I was thinking you could add an extra strip of that color ... or add extra strips of the WOW. I will leave it up to you to audition what looks best for your block.

***** A question was asked and I hope I understood it right.
The joy of this Lotto is that these are individual blocks and not all going into the same quilt to make a different pattern when sewn together so.... with that being said ...
On the Pinwheel block if you wanted to swap the placement of the corner block and the WOW feel free to do that. It would add more color. But then I got to thinking what it would look like when you add the sashing to the whole quilt to connect all the blocks at the end of the year so .... if you wanted to use a color instead of the WOW that would be great as well. Again I will leave it up to you - CREATE and ENJOY!!!!

HAPPY STITCHIN!!!! Can't wait to see pictures!!
