Oh MY!!!! November Stashbusters

Post by september » Sun Nov 08, 2009 10:52 am

How did I forget this month? Finished my dd baby quilt, can't believe I forgot to take a pic, but she will for me. Now working on xmas presents, another quick baby quilt for friends, and still trying to get my "tie" purse done. How about everyone else?

Everytime I think I am going to get something done something else pops up. Not enough time in a day.

The DWR is far enough along that I was able to piece the backing -- and I used my stash! My nephew's quilt is nearly finished. All the hand quilting is complete as of Friday night and now I'm machine quilting the border. I marked the last one earlier this evening.

I'm two weeks behind on my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler -- too focused on the other two quilts.

The current plan is to finish Josh's quilt by the 16th and to get the DWR on the quilt frame. I also want to get the borders on Ladder to the Stars and finish Autumn Splendor (Crazy 8s in fall colors). I started Autumn Splendor as a reward for getting Josh's quilt off the frame.

After my sewing marathon for my DD's bazaar, I have been taking a break, but perhaps this afternoon will get back in sync. I have my 10 prs of jammie pants to make for all the family. I have the youngest grandson's cut out and so far that's it. So I'm thinking that November will be filled with Jammie pants.

I have another small project percolating at the back of my mind. I belong to a group of retired nurses. There are about 6 of us and we get together 3 or 4 times a year to celebrate birthdays and Christmas. Well, I'm thinking of doing a miniature UGRR for one of them, framing it, and writing out the story of each block that goes into it and putting that on the back of the frame. But it's a big project to undertake with everything else. And I would need it done by Dec 12. So - thinking on that one.

After the holidays, I will settle in with four quilts I have planned and most fabric has already been purchased.

That's my plan. Wish me luck, as I wish everyone else good sewing karma for the holidays.

I decided to make my son and his new wife (just married last Saturday!) a quilt in blues and purples (their wedding colors). It's a simple block, and I've gotten all the various blue and purple pieces cut out the last few days. Now I have to cut out the white-on-white/beige-on-beige pieces and start putting the blocks together. They have an open house here during Thanksgiving weekend so I am hoping to finish it by then, but it will be their Christmas present if I don't get it ready.

Here it is mid-month and I finished Josh's quilt in time to take it to the quilt guild meeting. There's a picture posted in Photos. The other thing I've done this month is finally nail down the yardage requirements for the larger setting instructions I'm writing for the BOM. I still have to put in some time finishing up them (turns out they aren't needed until this time next month - whew!) I guess that's what I'm going to work on next, then over Thanksgiving catch up on my SBS blocks.

I finished the 2 Christmas quilts. Would like to make pillowcases to go with them. This year I have completed 4 quilts. Two full size, one extra long twin and a small one for DGD. I also have nearly finished the top of a fall one for me. I have several rows and some of them are sewn together. I am sure I am past the half way point on it. I also have completed the afghan Dad asked me to make for my nephew before he passed. I hope to get to mom's placemats this week. Maybe Teresa's. All things considered I am making progress. Sandy, ready for bed

Nov goals -- well, I finished Josh's quilt (and delivered it!) and I finished the finishing instructions for the Kansas Spirit quilt at the LQS. Didn't even attempt this months Sylvia's Bridal Sampler Blocks. I hope to catch up this month. I didn't get the last seams in the DWR done, so it's still sitting on the table.
