4th of July block swap, mommyquilts did you get blocks?

Hi everyone, I like to know if anyone would be interested in doing a block swap for the 4th of July? This would be the block I'd like to host. It's 9 in. square finished and I think if everyone did 2 in a set it may be large enough. It calls for 8 different fabrics for each block but that wouldn't be necessary unless you wanted to do them that way. 4 fabrics would be alright. Let me know if you may be interested.

Let me put down some more info here and then I'll take sign ups as I get your info in a pm.

I need your: name, user name, address, phone number in a pm.

We'll make 2 blocks (since they are small and easy) for each person in the swap. You can sign up to do more than one set if you want.

I'd like to have the colors more like the colors in the picture. Tans, creams, off white with the "Americian" colors of red and blue.

I'll take sign ups until April 20th. That will give you a month to make the blocks.

Deadline to have mailed to me is May 19th. (I'm having surgery on the 21st so it's important to make the deadline. Pm me if there is a problem or delay. I will get them back as soon as I receive them all.

Of course the sets of 2 should be put in a baggy with your name on it, then put in a larger baggy for mailing. Also enclose a self-addressed envelope with enough stamps (not metered) to cover return postage for your blocks.

If there are any questions or comments then by all means feel free to ask. Thanks, Brenda

Numbers 1 through 14 will make 28 total (2 in a set) and all in the second set will make 28 plus 10 more (5 more sets of 2). Everyone ok with this?

I think I have misled some of you on the total to make and by reading how I wrote it I can see why! The people in the 2nd group will make the 28 from the first list and then only 10 more because they are in the second group for a total of 38 blocks (14 sets in all) I'm so sorry about this!

I like the block. I think this would be a good swap and I would be interested in joining. Would you want to do the colors red/white/blue or some variation of those colors?

Anyone else interested?

Yes, I'd like to have the colors more like the colors in the picture. Tans, creams, off white with the "Americian" colors of red and blue. If we have enough interested in joining then I'll give the deadlines and the rest of the info. I would like to have the blocks back to everyone by the first of June so they can have time to do something with the blocks.

I don't know why but 4th of July fabrics are one of my weaknesses! This would be a great way to use up some of my stash...so I could buy more! BWAH-ha-ha!

Abbigail, have you thought about doing a sort of "two in one" swap? One group with more country colors (tans and barn reds) and one with brights? Or you could have each participant send in one block in each color scheme...?

I'll butt out now.

Carole, that's a good idea but these blocks are only 9 inches so I think I need to keep in the same color on this one. That is a good idea for 12 in. blocks though! Or even a reverse block using the same fabrics in reverse pattern.
