Christmas Round Robin - All are home. CLOSED

Post by Itchn2Bstitchn » Wed Aug 27, 2008 3:50 am

I would like to host a Christmas Round Robin. Please post if you're interested.

Jan

This is my first time hosting. We will pair up in groups of 4. You make your center "medallion" and mail it to the next person in your group. They will do a "round" or border on your center and send it to the next person and so on. When you get it back, all you'll have to do is quilt it and bind it. This will be fun!

This is going to need to be a quick turn around in order to have them back by Christmas. So, if for ANY reason, you can't get it done on time, please notify us. Or, at the very least, just go ahead and send it on to the next person in your group.

ADDED: Center medallion (quilter's choice on size) - to be mailed to the next person in your group by September 15th.
1st border done by: October 6th
2nd border done by: October 27th
3rd border done by: November 17th
Back to owner by: December 1st

Jan,
I have not tried a swap before. I am sort of hesitant because of that. But I think I would like to give it a try. Please count me in and let me know what the process is.

Jan I have never done a round robin, do we send fabric of our choice for the others to add?
Do you just suggest a theme or colors?
Exactly how does it work?

I've done RR with both, and really feel more inspired when I just receive the RR without instructions on what they want done with it.

IMHO, the inspiration comes from what others have done prior to you receiving the RR....

On a RR, you do a center medallion of a specific range of sizes, and then send on to person #2 in your group. Person #2 adds a border, and sends to #3. #3 does a border - usually a different style than the center or #1, and sends it on to #4. #4 does another border, again, using a different technique than has been done previously and sends it on to the original maker.

The person that makes the center medallion receives the peice back, and finishes it.

Is that right, Jan?

I have to see when Keith's surgery is, to determine how much I can participate this fall/winter.

Yes Cindy, that is right. You make the center medallion (or block) and pass it on. The next person will get the inspiration from your block just like Cindy said.

Here I am, once again sounding like the village idiot, but when you say that #2 person makes the 1st border, do you mean 1 side of the border or all 4 sides of the 1st border? Does it have to be pieced or can it be appliqued?

count me into this RR.
I have done one before with the local quilting guild and it turned out really great. Have had in on my livingroom wall for a year.

OK now that I know what is involved, put me down to play. It will be fun to see what grows out of this!
