Birthday Swap 2009, Grps 3 & 4, UPDATE, 8/19/08. CLOSED.

Post by Kittyquilt9292 » Tue Aug 05, 2008 12:55 pm

Update: October 31, 2008. Happy Halloween everyone. A number of people have asked about current info. I will be sending out a "clean, updated" copy of each group either Saturday or Sunday. This list will have all the current info --not to worry--no group changes of people, just corrections and to make it so everyone has a "clean" list with everything correct on it. I wil be sending it out email and will post here when it goes out so you can watch for it and let me know right away if you don't receive it.

I am happy to be co-hosting this swap with Caroline, she is so organized, I hope I can keep the same organization.

August 12, 2008--our swap is now CLOSED.

Here are the list of names for each group. We had a few more people that asked to be in AND gave me their info, so I added one more person to each group. So, we're groups of 13 each. I have everyone's info, thank you all, so I'll get that together, just having a wee bit of a problem making sure all the links work, but I'll get that worked out. I'll send the lists out to everyone before end of week.
I evened out the dates in each group best I could, but some months are more "popular" than others, so couple months have 2 people.

Carol, Thank you for co-hosting with Caroline! I'm sure it's a big help to her. I don't know why I keep looking at the birthday swap thread several times a day! I guess I'm anxious to get the info and get the blocks made. One thing I do is to try and make the blocks ahead of time and put them in a new pizza box along with the envelopes already addressed. That way, when the time comes to mail it, everything is together and all I have to do is put the block in the envelope. I also keep a copy of the pattern I used in case the recipient wants to know the name of the block and where the pattern can be found. Anyone else have ideas?

Carol,
Thanks for taking us on! LOL You know how we all just like to have too much fun. I'm looking forward to this swap and will try to get my UFOs under control by 2009. Being in DJ's UFO Buster groups has definitely helped!

Wow SharonG that is a great idea. Organization is not necessarily my strong point, I will have to remember that and for the block swaps too. Hmm . . .this could really help me out

Mary, I'm not a true organizational person (my sewing area is too messy for that), but I'm usually gone from home for a few months during the summer so, for my own peace of mind and to be fair to my BD sisters, I want to have the blocks ready for DH to take to the PO. Although next year, I might take them with me so he doesn't have to deal with them. I put the dates in the corner where the stamps go to help me remember. Also, if 'life' starts to happen, the blocks are already made and can be mailed out. Now, just to get the blocks made in case 'life' does start to happen as it takes me a couple months to get everything set up! lol I am so anxious to get started!!!

Sharon, that is a great idea to keep ahead and organized. I am trying to find ways to keep myself on track and every idea helps. I have a file box with the months of the year on divider cards, I then list the swaps I've joined on index cards of different colors and put them in according to month due. When I am working on something I pull the card out and attach it to the front of the box to remind me not to get side tracked.

Great ideas Ann and SharonG-- Once I get through August commitments and September Swaps, I will start making blocks. I have a plastic storage box designed for scrapbooking large square paper, and will put the blocks in there. I also keep commitments posted on a bulletin board over my sewing machine, sorted by dates due.

I am looking forward to this -- it will be fun I'm sure.

wow the organizational tips here are great. I also use my scrapbook paper plastic boxes for my quilt squares it helps to keep some consistency in my craft room. I am anxious to get the information too :)
