Friendship Star Variation CLOSED! Thanks for playing! :)

Post by Michelle06H » Fri Jul 04, 2008 3:05 pm

This is my first time hosting a swap so if things aren't run smoothly I apologize in advance, but please don't let that stop you from participating.

I chose the Friendship Star Variation because I think we have made some great friendships here at QIAD and I think this would be a great quilt to have! All I ask for your color choice is that your "color 2" on the supply list be a beige. "Color 1" maybe any color(s) you'd like. This is a great way to use up those scraps! Be creative. Prints, solids, stripes, whatever you wish!
This makes a 12" block

Here is what I am thinking for the beige, http://quilterscache.com/images/amysmin ... tarvar.jpg

Send all blocks to me by October 22nd with a postage paid/pre addressed return envelope and I will get these sorted and sent out on October 29th, granted I have received everyone's blocks by the 22nd. If you think you might be late in sending out your finished blocks please send me a PM and let me know that you'll be sending them late, we all know life happens so no one will be upset if you need a couple of extra days, just keep us updated :)

If there are any questions please ask, I am not sure if I covered all the bases.

I will be checking with the PO on Monday as to the best way to mail these.

Another thing, please put your blocks into plastic sandwich bags with your forum name and real name on them and then put those into a bigger ziploc bag before putting them into the envelope. My post guy isn't the brightest bulb and leave stuff in the rain sometimes so the bags help to keep things safe :)

Never done a swap, but am interested. Before I commit, will I need to make 1 block for each person who signed up?

Each person will make 30 blocks, once I get the blocks I will sort them out so each person gets 29 different blocks and one back of your own. If for example 25 people sign up, then everyone will get 24 different blocks, one of your own and 5 duplicate blocks to total 30. So no matter what you, make 30 blocks and you will get 30 blocks back.

I think she used gold, but I'd like to do beige. I think beige goes with more colors. :)

Your swap sounds fun and fresh which is enticing :o) But, 30 blocks is too many for me. I can do like 10, that's it. I cannot let myself get in over my head again. I know you will make a wonderful hostess and can't wait to see pics. Amie :o)

Michelle, this sounds fun, pls sign me up. I might make a suggestion: everyone sign their blocks, just name, forum name and city/town and state/province. With this block and using beige, there are many places it could be signed. I think it's great to have a the blocks signed so we can know who made each one, especially since it's a friendship quilt, which I think is a super idea. Just a thought, I'll go with what you and others decide. Any way, I'm in on this one. Thanks for suggesting and hosting it. HUGS to you , Megan and Madelyn. carol/kittyquilt

Great idea Kittyquilt!

I'd say sign your blocks at least with your forum name and state/country. If you are feeling really ambitious add your real name, city, doodle if you like it is up to you. Again be creative!
