4th of July Swap

Post by astitchintime » Tue Jun 17, 2008 6:24 pm

Sign ups for this swap are open and will continue thru July 4th!!

We will be swapping any patriotic fabric, washed prior to cutting into 8 inch squares. Please send 30 blocks each in a seperate zipper style baggies with your screen name and your real name along with a self addressed stamped return envelope. I will post the participants as they sign up, send my address via PM to mail the blocks to, then update the postings when blocks are received and when they are mailed back to each of you. Thank you in advance for being part of this swap. Hope we have enough sign ups to make a complete quilt top from the blocks sent in. What a great way to celebrate veterans day that a new quilt for your favorite veteran!!

We will close the swap on July 4th
Mail the blocks to me by July 20
I will mail blocks to you by July 30

Hope to hear from many of you!! Debi

After reading this again.........I am confused too. LOL

Let's try this again ~ I don't mind where the fabric was/is purchased, if you can use your stash first that is great. Please prewash before you cut the blocks. A variety would be wonderful but you can send all the same if you want. I meant to put that there should be 30 zipper style baggies with 2 blocks in each baggie. If we end up with less than 30 signed up we can chat about how to deal with the extras. Please be sure to send a self-addressed, stamped envelope for me to return your blocks in. It is always wonderful to know who the blocks came from so please put a label in each of the zipper bags that at least has your real name and screen name. I have had two packages get damaged in the mail and never found the first one. Now I always put the seperate baggies into a gallon size zipper bag and put my name and address on the large bag. The second package was returned to me, too late for the swap but I was able to use them for something else. Just a thought for when you mail yours......

Updated 7-8-08 @ 7:30 pm ~ I was at the cabin until late Sunday and due to the fires and storms my wireless wouldn't work. Sorry about the delay. I have some PMs to check and then we will know if there are going to be more than 8 of us. Be right back. :-) Debi

Updated: 7-8-08 @ 8:00 pm ~ Just finished checking my messages, no one new to add so it looks like there will be 8 of us!

I think that we need to decide a new total number of charms to send in each zipper bag. Unless someone objects, I would like to see about putting 5 charms into each zipper bag and each participant sending in 10 packets. I will exchange all eight sets for the participants and would like to use the other two sets to make as many lapquilt tops as possible to be given to our local care facility. What do you all think?? Debi

****Please remember to include your forum and real name in each charm bag and then to put all your bags into a large zipper bag that has your mailing address on it in case the package gets damaged and they have to be returned to you. ****

Debi - Please sign me up but I am a bit confused as to what you are wanting. Are you wanting just one piece of fabric in thirty different ziploc bags??
Thanks
Beth

Hmmmm let me think on this. I could make this a top to use as the backing of my RWB Mini Bow Tie quilt. Then it would be reversible.

Last year I made 4 red, white, and blue sort of patriotic lap quilt tops (still not quilted... okay, tied). I still have so much leftover material I think I could make at least two more tops. So I have some of questions before I jump in.......

- Only ONE 8" square per baggie? Or TWO?
- Patriotic fabric - not just red, white, or blue?
- WALMART, JoAnn's, etc. okay?
- Okay to use our stash and send charms cut from more than one material so there is a variety (not all receive the same fabric)? Or do you prefer using the same fabric for all the squares?
- Washed fabric?

Add me too, please.

Also, am assuming it is 60-8 inch charms in 30 bags, sign up by 7-4, send to you by 7-20 & you will return by 7-30. Plus the usual ziploc & postage.
