We're swapping these great little mini bow tie blocks! They're easy to make and would be a great block for newbie quilter. You can find the pattern on quilterscache.com. This is a 6 1/2” block. I will run two rounds of this to break up the number of blocks sent. First round due May 15 and the second round due June 15. You may sign up for either round or both. If you signup for both rounds, please use different fabrics. This is the quilt you need to sit on to watch those beautiful fireworks!!!

Details: Put SIX blocks in a baggie, 3 blue ties & 3 red ties. Please use SOLID White backgrounds (no WOW). Fabrics need to be 95% reds or blues. TOTs would be best. You will need 6 baggies to swap (so make 36 blocks, 18 red and 18 blue to swap). Also, don't forget to send a self-addressed stamped envelope for your blocks to return home. If you are participating in the Granny’s Flower Garden and are signing up for this - you may want to use the flat rate box for $8.95. I would also suggest delivery confirmation.

Use prewashed fabrics only and make sure to measure your blocks before you mail. They should measure 6 1/2". Please post weekly with your progress. COMMUNICATION IS THE KEY TO A SUCCESSFUL SWAP. Blocks are due at my house on or before 5/15/08 for round one and 6/15/08 for round two.

4/28/08 - REMINDER: The blocks are due to my house on or before May 15, 2008 (2 1/2" weeks).

Wow, that was fast. I have to make this quilt before July 4th. I want to take it with me to the Washington Monument to watch the fireworks. Everytime I have to use red or blue in a project. I make a couple bow ties. I have about 30-32 already.

the link is to a 12" block..is there another one for a 6.5 inch I don't want to do the math to reduce it. I need to do a test one before saying yes or no..I am in over my head with sues right now so unless it is easy I can't say yes. what is TOT?

Carolyn - they have sewen 4 - 6 1/2" mini bow ties together to form their 12 1/2" block. So you can still use this pattern. Thank you again for posting it.
