I googled cupcake appliques and sat here taking pictures of my computer screen with my phone! I have a pretty good idea of how I want mine to look, so tomorrow I'm going to stop by the LQS to see if I can find just the right fabric. Then I'll take my DMIL out to do some shopping and check in on my own DM. They live in the same senior complex, so that's convenient! I also ordered a couple of patterns from Etsy. I love that I can shop after hours!

I'm hoping to make some, most, or even all of these blocks over winter break. We'll see how far I get!

Jodi, sounds like you are having some fun choosing fabrics and patterns. Good for you. Hope to see one done up during your winter break. :)

I'm already trying my hand had drawing out my pattern. Picking out my assortment of fabrics will be fun, too.

Need to get started, 'cause I'm not at fast as the rest of you. LOL

Thanks for the welcome.

I mailed my cupcakes this morning (24th).

This was my first applique project that I felt comfortable enough to "share" in a swap. I used El's method with some iron on pellon, then turned them, and ironed them down. Then I did some hand stitching on the backs to make sure they will stay down. I copied how some of the appliqued blocks from the Christmas block swap were done on the backs. They were fun. I hope to try some flowers next.

Vinae, thanks for hosting this swap! MERRY CHRISTMAS !

I might join this, but I have a question. Any good way to pre-wash charms?

Also, maybe you could get the web guy to move this topic up to the top so people notice it will start soon.

Hi Lyn, I do hope you will join us. I really don't know how to wash charms. I wonder if you were to put them in a bag of some sort so they wouldn't get eaten by the washing machine.
I will try to keep this to the top now that it will be starting soon. I think more people will get active on here and start posting their blocks too.
Let me know if you want to sign up. Only a few more spots open. Thanks, Vinae

Hi
That is a great question and one I am glad you asked as I was thinking the same thing about a few weeks ago. I asked the guild members and the ladies at Bolts this question and they said one way is to wet them down, lay them on a towel and let them air dry. I used to have a line out back that if I still had it I would be attaching them to it ... so for me it is the spare bed or the living room floor at night as I don't have any inside animals.
Hope this might help. WELCOME!!
