T, you're such a sweetheart. I'll make at least couple peony blocks at retreat. My stuff for the quilt show is due tomorrow, so I have been busy finishing up! Hope I get them all "squared off" by then!

Jo - what a great idea. I was looking at that the other night but glad that you posted it. What are you putting in the Quilt show? Did you take pictures?

Linda - let me know if you will be sending in any of the big blocks. I think it will work. A different perspective of putting all the blocks together. No pressure though :)

GrannyPat - You will be MISSED!!!! Get Well - See you next month!

I have 1 peony block finished and all the pieces for the others ready. Been a busy last 2 days but I am ready to get back to them.

Wish I could say I wrote this but I didn't, Author at bottom

This morning the green fists of the peonies are getting ready
to break my heart
as the sun rises,
as the sun strokes them with his old, buttery fingers

and they open —
pools of lace,
white and pink —
and all day the black ants climb over them,

boring their deep and mysterious holes
into the curls,
craving the sweet sap,
taking it away

to their dark, underground cities —
and all day
under the shifty wind,
as in a dance to the great wedding,

the flowers bend their bright bodies,
and tip their fragrance to the air,
and rise,
their red stems holding

all that dampness and recklessness
gladly and lightly,
and there it is again —
beauty the brave, the exemplary,

blazing open.
Do you love this world?
Do you cherish your humble and silky life?
Do you adore the green grass, with its terror beneath?

Do you also hurry, half-dressed and barefoot, into the garden,
and softly,
and exclaiming of their dearness,
fill your arms with the white and pink flowers,

with their honeyed heaviness, their lush trembling,
their eagerness
to be wild and perfect for a moment, before they are
nothing, forever?

Valerie - I am so grateful there are ones on this earth that have been blessed with the gift of poetry.
That was pure joy to read. Thank you so much for sharing it.

Hi Lisa!! Great to hear from you. Thank you for the update. I was just wondering about you and Jo. I will keep my eyes out for them. I have quite a few here that are looking for more company :) ;0)

I need to make my DLC's as well as quilting 2 quilts that have a deadline that just showed up on my doorstep.
I don't know that I will be able to sew all the stems down on my blocks but they are all made. 3 for the lotto and 1 for my end of the year sampler.

I am so happy that you did not quit. This was an interesting block to make but I would not want to make 25 of them for a quilt.
I will not lie to you all ... Praying the Hands of the picker PICK ME!!!!!! They are all FABulous blocks and the colors are awesome!!!

I think I must be the slowest sewer there is! I haven't even started on the second one!

I will be mailing my peony block later today - I'll send you the tracking number when I get back.

Hi, Teresa. I am going to the PO tomorrow morning (if I can find it) and will post the tracking number when I get back. My mailing address is Sheridan, but I worked in Sandwich so I would always just go to the Sandwich PO. Now, with being "retired" it is closer to go Sheridan, I just have to find it. So, I get to have an adventure tomorrow.

I agree with Teresa, I definitely would not want to make an entire quilt out of these blocks. I struggled with the ones in the Egg Money Quilt (the big ones) and thought to myself NEVER AGAIN. But yet, here I am.

Jo
