Is this a question for the other category (patterns, techniques?)...If I squared up the blocks to be 7.5, and I put them on a foundation piece that's 11.5, then I could trim the foundation to be wonky and it would look okay? I'm chicken to do things without a pattern...I mess up enough with a pattern. lol
nevermind...that would be a lot of topstitching.

maybe I am looking at this from the point of garment construction but I would simply back it with a "lining" and sew it that way for a charity quilt, or even for yourself if there is fabric that you really like

I would like to make 20 still, but if the majority would rather make 12, that's cool too. Any leftovers on my end will be made in a Project Linus quilt, and since this is an easy pattern, if I'm short blocks it doesn't take long to make a few more.
I hate being wishy washy, but I'm good either way.

I don't 12 would be enough to do anything with because they are small blocks. I'd like to do 20 blocks for the exchange. But I'll be wishy washy also and go with the group. ~Abbigail~

I already have 24 done so whatever everyone decides is fine. Since I am down twice there are 11 of us sewing I would be happy to make more and do 40 (I think I am almost there anyway since I just kept sewing them)
Is Sarah still in?

I would still like to do 20. If you go with 20 for everyone, I can do mine in 4 sets of 5 alike so that you can give more than one of mine to a person. I would like not to get any of mine back (I'm making extra of mine to keep here).
But, I will go along with the majority.

I wouldn't mind making more if I can get home in time. I probably will, but can't make any promises right now. I think most of mine are different.

I'm not complaining or anything... haven't been in many swaps so don't know some things and don't understand the whys and wherefors of some things. Perhaps you can enlighten me.
Why is there a date when the sign ups close? I know why there's a date when things are due, but what if people feel they don't have time, right now, but later on, discover that they could make some of the blocks... but it's too late, it's closed.
Like with the lotto blocks, as long as they are done the right way and delivered to you by the due date, I just don't see why.
Also, what's the difference going to be in the group that makes 12 and the group that makes 20? Can we make 32 and get in on both groups? Can we make 40 and get in the 20 group twice?
Can you tell me?

For this particular swap, I think it would work that a person could get back however many blocks they turned in, no matter what the number.
I've never seen swaps where a person had to make 20 blocks as they do here. It's usually 12 and if more than 12 sign up, there's another group of 12, or if someone wants more than 12, they sign up for the second (and/or third) group. For myself, it's much easier to make 12 blocks and then make the quilt larger by using sashing and borders. Groups of 12 are much more managable than groups of 20 and the swap doesn't take forever and get lost on down the line....imo.
If I'm out of line, I'm sorry.
