Block Party general info...
Hi everyone, Kittyquilt9292 emailed and requested that we do a better job of communicating issues with the BOM patterns and I agree.
Hopefully by now, you all have your pattern and this month (August), Block Party is held on the 10th of the month. It is always the second Tuesday of the month. This does not necessarily mean that the paper pattern will be finished and ready to mail next week. The reason for this is that when Block Party is held, it sometimes results in changes or corrections that need to be accomplished and the only people that get a pattern are the ladies that physically attend here in California. If changes or fixes need to be made, it can take many hours of work by Teresa, El, and the art department to make that happen. The reasons for changes are varied, sometimes a whole new quilt has to be made and photographed because the picture initially chosen doesn't look good. (Not often, but it has happened)
Once El is happy with it, at that point it is printed and mailed out. I mentioned in a previous post that we are helping out disabled folks by having them sent bulk mail, but the trade off is going to be a somewhat slower delivery time.
I hope that helps and I will definitely let you all know if a delay arises with this month's pattern.
Thanks for all your enthusiasm, we love you all!
Robin

thanks, Robin, for the explanation. It helps much when we know the process. I personally am happy that QIAD is helping the disabled.
It would be helpful for us if you would post here when they are sent. That way we will be able to judge about when to expect ours. We all know that bulk rate takes a bit longer, so we'll have longer to finish the past month's pattern <smile>.
I am so happy to report that mine came today here in PA. I am so excited, I actually have my fabric, and am about ready to go.!
Okay, everyone, patterns are coming and should be arriving at your house very soon, so lets see a lot of pictures. This pattern looks easy--of course--El has simplified it so we can do it--and we should see lots of different blocks and quilts.
Happy strip tzzing everyone.

Hope to finish this tomorrow. Here are a few pics, 'leftovers quilt', Crosses & Stars so far, and a close up of the next border.

Oaky--here it is:
Also took a detail of the edge since you can't really see it in over-all (too big!) It's HUGE!

The diagonal strips in the border are beautiful - a perfect addition.

Hi all. It's a wall hanging/table cloth, "Apple cake" (and we got to have a piece of apple cake from El's mothers recipe, recipe is include with your pattern! It's yummy!) Back to School Apple for the teacher, An Apple a Day keeps the doctor away, etc.
Quilt is made with 7 10" squares to make 13 apples (or you can use fat quarters, stash, etc) plus background and 1/4" yard for border, 1/4" yard for corner triangles--fabrics should be apple colours red (red delicious, Jonathan), yellow-gold (golden delicious), green (Granny Smith), etc I think I have something that will look like 'Gala'. Prints are okay too. I'll probably make one 'Fall' one (Moda Saltbox Harvest comes to mind) and one in 30s (just cuz I love 30s these days....) and I'll probably make it bigger, maybe, if I can figure out how without messing up the pattern--apples actually look like apples! Very cute. Extra apple is for a lunch bag, bonus pattern.
So, did your Crosses and Stars Quilt pattern include yardage for queen? She handed out a fabric chart for a queen today.
Great fun--wait until you see her peal, core and slice an apple for the cake, I want one (and you'll just have to wait for the video to see what I'm talking about!
Useful rulers for this--16" square-up, small flying geese ruler #1 (actually any ruler that measures 4 1/2" would do), 6 X 24--none of these are actually required, but if you've been thinking about getting them any way (or already have them!).......
Cheers!
PS, I want to see your Crosses and Stars quilts, pictures please (when you have a chance to make them!0
