My shop here doesn't have the Kona Natural. Is there another Kona that is close to it? They had Kona white and Kona bone. Will one of these work? I found the batik that I want to use--actually two of them.

Some stores do not carry kona cotton , natural.
But if you need it . Hancocks of Paducah has it and can be ordered on line too. Hope this helps too.

I just bought Kona natural at our Hancock's here and they had lots. Also, some beautiful batiks, 50% off. Don't think I've ever gotten out of there cheaper than this before. $53 for 7 yds. of fabrics,4 spools of thread, & a pr. of flip-flops.
I guess, please sign me up for both 1 & 2 and I'll get started. So... 2 per envelope, #1 different from 2, and only 10 of each color, is that correct? Please Tell me now so I can get more fabric if I need it.

morgan4,
I understand you use 4 different batik fabrics and kona natural for the background on all.
So 10 each of 2 batiks for first,
then 10 each of 2 batiks for second, different from the first 2.
Hope this helps .

Okay - I had a bad weekend. Sorry, I'm just getting to everyone. For those that can't find Kona Natural - PM me. Not sure if QAID sells it.

I hate to keep sounding like the village idiot... however, if the shoe fits...
Tell me about the envelope. Are you talking about a regular, long envelope or something manilla? I can't see 10 baggies fitting into a regular envelope, but since you said a SASE, that's what I'm envisioning.

Correct me if I am wrong DJ but I think this is what is meant by an envelope (at least this is what I am going to use) http://www.usps.com/all/shippingandmail ... elopes.htm or the flat rate envelope ???

Re: Fall Swap #2 - Batik Leaves Are Falling. See picture of Lori's leave.
I was looking at my "batiks" while ago and decided that 2 of them look more like tie-dye to me than what I consider a batik. I loved the colors and the way one color blends into another. They would make lovely leaves, and the end of the roll said they were batik. anyway, I wanted to see what Joann's had and this gave me a good excuse to go there.
They had only a few "batiks" left at 30% off. Again, some were swirls that I wouldn't consider batiks, the way I think of batiks. There was a lot of really lovely fabric that would have made beautiful leaves, but they didn't say batik, so I left them. (sniff)
When I was getting my fabric cut, I asked the saleslady. She had no idea what makes a batik a batik, but fortunately, she was relieved for her lunch and the guy that took over said he knew exactly what makes a fabric a true batik. He got his masters in textiles and even has taught college classes on it. So, here's the scoop. Before the dye is added to a fabric, it has wax poured onto it. Sometimes it's in a pattern... circles, squares, straight lines, etc. Then the fabric is dyed, the wax causing the patterns to be left the natural color. Then the wax is washed out. Sometimes there are only 2 colors, such as blue and natural, sometimes other colors are dyed over these, but always you can see where the wax was. He says that those tie-dye look fabrics aren't true batiks but for some reason, Joann's calls them that and can call them what they want.
Anyway, I thought that was interesting and didn't know if anyone else knew, so thought I'd tell you.
