Count me in! I'm "crazy" about crazy quilting. I belong to a group here in MN that's called "Not-so Crazy Quilters" and we work on all kinds of crazy quilting projects. Just completed "It's In My Bag Challenge", which really stretched my creativity. Anyway, it sounds like FUN. scrappie66 AKA susan

I am a "possible" for this swap but I have so many things to get done right now. However, these aren't due till June so its possible probably. LOL

Scrappie--could you post a picture of your project? I'm gathering in all these tips and want to try one of these blocks. I've paper pieced before but most all have been flowers.

Donnacrazy--thanks for all the links, they have been very helpful.

Has anyone tried doing the "SILK RIBBON EMBROIDERY BY MACHINE" that El demonstrates in her Quilts through the seasons crazy heart pattern on pages 26 and 27? Looks like fun but haven't been brave enough to try it. I think this might look nice on one of these blocks.

I think I will post this question in the techniques section also.
Have Fun,

I didn't use any foundation or paper piecing for these blocks. I just added scraps and would trim off the excess where they overlapped each other until I got it large enough that I could cut an 8 1/2 square block out of it. Then I added the borders. It was really fun!

I found another good website for crazy quilt blocks. (Am I overloading everybody?) :^)
http://www.azpatch.com/bom/bom2003/08au ... m03aug.htm

And Victorian Quilt Designs has a block of the month for hexagon shaped crazy quilting. So far they have Jan., Feb., and March ideas. The shape is not what we're doing, but it shows some ideas for embellishing the blocks.

Come on, ladies (and men). We need more quilters to sign up!

decorative stitching can be done by hand or machine
embellishments are optional

Please don't let the decorating of these blocks scare you off from this wonderful swap. I don't plan on doing anything to my blocks that I am sending in. Just the simple beauty of the crazy blocks themselves! If I want, before I piece the quilt together I will add some decorative stitches then. I would just as soon have the "plain Janes" myself. But this is the beauty of the swap, everyone can do their own thing! So if you were afraid of the stitching, don't worry about it! Come join us so I can get my crazy quilt. (correct me if I'm wrong about this) ~Abbigail~

I hope we will be able to reach our goal of 20 participants by April 15th, if not we will keep the sign up open longer. Mail in and return dates will stay the same. I think we can go forward with this swap regardless of how many people sign up, if that is okay with everyone. We can all still do 20 blocks and I will divide them up so that everyone gets 20 blocks back, trying not to give you your own back.
