I too have to go to the LQS and buy fabric, have done a demo block in non-red, white and blue so have worked out just how much of each fabric I need..........good job next weekend we have our special January sale where most things are 50% off - guess I'll have to go and check out the bargains LOL

carol, i think doing swaps like these are great for pushing our boundaries and getting us out of our comfort zone...
once upon a time i wouldn't have dreamed of doing half of the things i do! but i do like to find new things to tackle and learn.

I have 10 blocks cut out waiting to be put together... I want to get the rest cut out today so I can just sew like a crazy person tomorrow....

actually, I like the way these blocks are coming out... thanks O'Dorothy for suggesting we do this swap...

Found some pieces of a different red in my stash so I whipped up a few more blocks today! I like them much better... but will still have to run over to Joanns for more red! All I have is scraps!

Will post some photos later! Actually, they turned out pretty good, but I'm hungry so it's time to come up for some supper and park my fanny on the couch for a while. I have to write a "Self appraisal" for work---time for my annual review!! YUK.. I hate those things--have to turn it in to my boss, then have a meeting with her--I'm old enough to be her mother--in fact she's same age as my DD! Sure miss the old days when I WAS THE BOSS! oh well... it's a job!

Mary... enjoy shopping for your red fabric... I really got lucky... I thought I was going to run out of white... I really didn't want to cut into a new yard if I didn't have to and I found some scraps in my sewing room...

I was able to cut out 15 blocks and most are partially put together... I will get them sewn together completely tomorrow and post a picture.

if anyone wants to send their blocks early please pm me if you don't have my address.... I have room to hang on to them till I get all the blocks.

So ... after looking at all the blocks from the places I have lived I have decided to do
"The Old Red and Blue". Seems like it will fit very nicely into the quilt.
Hope you think so.

I have the fabric but it was earmarked for another quilt so I will have to see if I can get more or decide on another fabric. I see that I have time.
