I guess I missed the part about the cheap fabric. Bought mine at the LQS. It was "cheaper" as it was on sale so guess I am still okay!

I just used what fabrics I had so I don't think it matters if you use good or cheap.

The fabric doesn't matter. I just didn't want to exclude anyone by saying it had to be quilt shop fabric.
The leaves are all the same size, I'm not sure they are lettered differently.
This is going to be so cute..........I can't wait!

Hi Girls, I am putting my leaves on this afternoon. Hopefully I will get them in the mail Monday. I liked this one so well I even made extras. My 8 year old granddaughter wants to put them into a quilt for her. I need to purchase her a small machine so that she can practice sewing. My sister bought her a toy one last year but I can't get it to work properly so I will just get a real one and set her up a table right next to mine.
Have a great day and stay warm. Or at least try.

Mine is el-cheap-o! I followed the guidelines so I hope it's OK. 99.9% of the time, I use only shop quality so working with this typre of cotton was interesting enough. Should wash out soft though. Amie

Vicki, your block looks very nice. I haven't got mine on the background yet, but did get them all cut out and when I lay them on my background, they sure look small and pitiful. Could you please measure the distance on the 4 sides between the edge of the background and the largest flower?
I know you said you made the 10" size, so I'm wondering if just maybe my printer printed smaller than yours. ???
I had originally cut out the larger 12" size flower. That's what I'm cutting down to be the 10" size. If I lay that one on the background, it looks much better.
My background is now 11" and there is 3" extra on all sides. Taking away 1/4" all around isn't going to make it look much larger.
Maybe you took a real close up with your camera, but it doesn't look like there is that much on the sides.

We are using the pattern that has a 7/20 at the top. I had to look to find it but it's there. I cut my bkgd at almost 11" square. The applique is tight for sure. After we square up, it will be a tight fit. I had to tuck my eaves under the flower a tiny bit to make sure there would be 1/4" after squaring up.
I wasn't all that excited before I got started but now, I love these blocks. I'm making more to make my quilt larger. Amie

Re: Tattered Garden- All home!!! Successful Swap!
Two questions ...are we going to get back one of our own blocks? I ask because I worked on mine last night. Of course on my first one I had to screw it up and forgot to cut out the back so I have heavy seam lines after I did cut it out. It looks okay..so if we're going to get one back you can send me that one. Or I can make another one. Second question...do we use the same stiching distance on the leaves as the flowers? Using the same on the leaves will fray them so there won't be much left of the leaf. These blocks are so pretty!! I will probably be staying home today because of icy roads so hopefully will get them done.

Yes, you will get back one of your own blocks. It makes it easier to send them all and then I can make all the piles to ship back the same.
Thanks,
Vicky
