Why not just make the blocks without the sashings???? Then we can do our own choice....I would join then!!!
Re: YOU ASKED FOR IT!! TEACUP CURIO BLOCK SWAP - check your PMs
I've already started to work on my blocks. The background & sashing are already sewn. the sashing is a light brown. it's the same as I used for the coffee tea pot swap. All I have to do is iron the appliqués in place & do embroidery. To put the appliqués in place, the light brown sashing has to be there.
Also, if we have to order fabrics online, please know that it could take up to 2 to 3 weeks for me to receive it...

Caroline asks: Why not just make the blocks without the sashings???? Then we can do our own choice....
Would love to have you join, Caroline. However, in my view, since
the saucers overlap onto the sashings, and also some of the cup handles, this would not be a practical solution.
Therefore, we have two possible options to consider:
(1) All use the same fabric for sashing
(2) Stick to original plan
What does everybody think? I will give this until Thursday for your inputs and you may post here or PM me. If you want to use the same sashing, please offer an actual choice of fabric and source.
Since we want to be user-friendly, I am happy to seek input from all.
NOTE:I believe sashings require 1 3/4 in. x 20 in. for each block.
Therefore each 1 3/4 in. x WOF would yield enough for 2 blocks.
There are 12 blocks, so 6 x 1 3/4 inches = 10 1/2 inches LOF
or about 1/3 yard. Is that correct?

Carol, I vote for #2. I've already sewn all my blocks (background & sashing - the sashing is the same color as the fabric I used for the coffee/tea pot swap).
I've never bought fabric online, also, for me to buy fabric online it will cost me the same price as the fabric in postage. And... the delivery is long. It can take up to 2 to 3 weeks before I receive it.
I've joined the swap because the due date has been post-poned to October 3rd. Otherwise, I would have not joined cause I have too many things happening at the same time.
If the majority decide to buy same fabric online, sorry but I will drop out. No hard feelings!

Denise I do not want you to drop out! I was trying to make a compromising suggestion. You realize of course that it takes fabric only a couple days to arrive to me, I had no idea it took so long for you. I am so sorry!
I have another suggestion after looking at the quilt again and it seems to me it is only the first sash or the medium brown that the cups and saucers are leaning upon. Would it be possible for us to add our own dark brown? In fact we might not have to use a medium brown at all in that case and the curio cabinet could look like it had different colors inside.

In the teapot curio swap, we all used a medium tan color for the inside of the curio, and didn't do the dark brown sashing. I think they will look fine that way-- Ann posted a picture of the tan she was using, and we all just tried to match the shade. The dark brown will tie them all together.
You can go check out that thread if you want to see pictures of the blocks that have been posted. I think as long as you stick to the same background and tan , it'll look great!

Carol, in the teapot swap I posted a color swatch of the tan we were using for the sashing strip and so far everyone has pretty much come in using a color close to the one posted. Why not post a swatch of the color you are suggesting and then we can all just try and match it the best we can. Remember we are only doing the light background and the first side and bottom sashing, the darker color is what each person will add when they complete their quilt.
It has been suggested to not add the side and bottom strips, but if you look at the quilt top pictures you will see that the cup sits on that bottom strip. I think not using the first sashings will really change the dimensional look of the quilt and that is what I like about this pattern.
I guess I vote for #2. I really think if you post a color swatch for us to match, once we add our own choice of sashing color the completed quilt will look great.
