Did watch this morning, making notes on the instructions. I am going to watch again tonight. If I get the chance, after my girls are done this afternoon, I will start on the half square triangles.

With DH taking care of his Dad today, I should have time to myself.

Izzy, what about one of your fussy cuts for the center?

BBL,
Jana

Jana here are my Mark blocks with fussy cut: cow, chicken, sheep and pigs.

The next two are the fabric ideas for feathered star with center all the way out. Either red plaid or my final outside border fabric. What do you think: then it will go blue {lg triangle}, gold {half sq triangles} and red tips:)

I am wondering how they will look together. So I thought once the feathers are made I would lay it around center block and see what I like LOL only a 8 inch snowball block I think so no real waste:) After looking at pic I like the black more than the red for center just worried with my background being black will that be too much.

Just watched tonight's - change in the instructions from El - use a scant 1/4 seam, on a computerized machine, just one move to the right. She also said you can use that through out that block we are working on.

Izzy, love both sets, but like the black center the best.

Glad that I waited to startmy half square triangles too.

Sally - your blocks look very nice over the air!

I got to watch most of the program last night on the feathered star does anyone have the concern of what if this feathered star does not fit into the center of quilt like if it's to small for the center or to large how do you work on getting it to fit just In case the outside rows did not end up the right length I know I'm good on the 9 inch width but my rows did not come out to. 51 inches I think is the measurement she gave

Don't worry about that center star - there are borders and sashing around it - that gives you the fudge factor to make the other pieces all fit together. I am sure that we will take the measurements of our star and then cut the inside border to fit that.

I have almost all four sections that El did yesterday done. I just need to add the trimmed triangle piece. Everything is working beautifully. I did move to the right - the scant 1/4 and my pieces measured exactly 6 inches for the A strip and I was right on with the other too.

Carefully sewed the pieces on and did not eat any points. Pics later - I am watching my little grands so their parents can attend a school board meeting, dealing with the bus stop issues, that caused the accident with the little girl that died.

Okay, enough is enough...I am so behind, it is time to catch up...almost have all the pieces for star three ready to assemble. I haven't added setting fabric to anything but I am going to get this ready for next month if it kills me (and it might)...LOL? Will post star pics soon.

Izzy, I really like the black for the center block. I am thinking of embroidering a saying on my center block , as this will hang on my sewing room wall. Not sure yet.

Sorry for the HUGE pics!!! Here are my blocks so far... almost done with #4, I am at the flying geese trimming stage... I will audition background fabrics when the blocks are all done I guess... not sure which one I want to use. The teal polka dot I picked out may be too dark after all. I will post and you will have to help me decide.
