Re: September Secret Pal?
I was reading IowaGal's post about gifts not being acknowledged and a thought popped into my mind. For the Cub Scout Day Camp that I run, we have to notify the local hospitals and police and fire departments and we are supposed to have a way to prove letters were sent. So a few years ago, instead of waiting for a letter back from them, I started to include a postcard addressed to me that said 'We got the letter about the Day Camp on such-and-such days.' So...
Should we send a self-addressed stamped postcard with the SP gifts? I guess it sort of forces a thank you note (which I suppose is tacky) but it would make it really easy to get confirmation that someone got their package if they are not posting it here.

Oh, and I still want to do this. I've only done this 3 months, but it is fun to get surprises in the mail!

Oh, I'm here... just haven't had a second to get on the computer! I konked my head at WalMart last week and had a very nice visit with the ER nurses and docs in Carroll... then a cortisone shot in my shoulder, then took a dump on my scooter that made me stiff and sore! (Someone was watching out for me on that one... Keith told me it was kind of cool, and I might want to put a jacket on, so I did, and it prevented some pretty bad scrapes on the loose pavement on the bottom of our driveway... and Cassie came over and started licking my face and climbing on me, wanting to make sure I was ok)... well, it's been busy to say the least!
I'm going to do the matches and send out the info tomorrow... there are a few things I need to clean up before I do that and make sure my list is up to date.
I think the quarterly sign-up is a great idea! I keep all the addresses in a Word file, so that wouldn't change.
Yeah, the biggest pains have been:
1. People not sending out the monthly gift
2. People not acknowledging when the gifts are received
3. (this doesn't happen so often, but it has happened) - People who move and don't let me know. It's a pain when the package goes to the old address, and increases the chances of it getting lost.
Looks like we'll be in Iowa for the winter - I have shoulder surgery on Sept. 25th, and then Keith's going to get his shoulder replaced.... that will require an extensive rehab/recovery time... so, we've put everything on hold. (Except my quilting machine... I have it up on the screen and just have to push the button to buy it.)
Vacation went extremely well, and so we extended it a little, but I'm back and working furiously to get my apron blocks done for the swap! Got my '30's charms today, and really, really want to work on that quilt, but need to put that off to get some disaster quilts finished!
Sigh! Who said that not working was easy??!!
BTW - we WON'T do the Secret Pal in December - that's reserved for Secret Santa!

Cindy, so happy to hear from you. Sorry for all the problems. You be careful on that scooter! We'll keep in and DH in prayer for your surgeries. Happy that you'll continue the Secret Pals. It is so much fun. BTW, are you still in need of disaster quilt tops/quilts?
