Marcia, love your humor. Let's see what others think. Maybe, just maybe, we could write something on the door or window like "Carol's House in PA" or "kittyquilt lives here in PA" or, or.
What does everyone think? Remember, lifeisgrand has on "big girl panties" so she won't mind your ideas if they're different than yours!!!! And I don't either, all ideas will make this a swap everyone is happy with.

I just had an idea.... might be cute. What if everyone sent in a small square of beige, tan, grey (something light in color), maybe 2.5 x 2.5 inches or so, with their names and info written on it, then those could be added to the back of the quilt in any way the recipient chooses- I'm thinking that they would be adorable cut into irregular shapes then appliqued to look like a stepping stone pathway to a house (full sized or even a smaller version)on the back of the quilt. :-)

Just an idea-- maybe crazy! LOL

I personally don't like my quilts autographed unless it's a block that was meant to be signed (album, signature, etc). I think that it takes away from the quilt itself. People sign them big, small, print, write, black, blue etc. I just think it gets cluttered. Just my thinking. Sorry. ~Abbigail~

This sounds like a fun swap and I'd probably sign up for it. I also like the idea of just making the house and not adding the "wonky" sides. Wouldn't matter to me if we signed our names or not, but I think it's a cute idea to have our names on the houses like you see in real life sometimes, but that might be hard to do and especially on dark fabric. I'll be looking for the swap early next year. Thanks for the idea & asking for input.

I'd do this if it isn't due until 2009:o) Brenda - I'm beginning to think you and I are sisters. I don't like the signing blocks unless they are of the autograph-type either.

Abbigail & DJ- you both offered valid points about why you would prefer that the participants NOT autograph their house blocks and I do appreciate your input! (Said while wearing my 'big-girl panties"!!! LOL) So, I think we can do without autographing the block. That wouldn't hurt my itty-bitty feelings a bit!

Gwen's alternative idea of writing the names of the participants on the back label is a wonderful suggestion if we wish to acknowledge/identify those who 'constructed' the house blocks. :-)

I am more than willing to go along with the concensus! See...I'm an easy person to get along with! *grin*

You are all such wonderful people and have such great ideas. I'm really looking forward to this swap. Keep the ideas coming, we have several months before sign up. HUGS, carol/kittyquilt

Marcia, Why don't you make a bigger house with a solid light color and print everyone's name on it for the back of the quilt. You could have a sign in front of the house saying something like "MY HOUSE OF FRIENDS" oe somwthing like that. ~Abbigail~

PS I think you are doing very well in wearing your "big girl panties"! LOL!

Abigail, that "big House" could have all of the signed small pieces either on the house or leading up to it. That idea has lots of possibilities! thanks, HUGS, carol/kittyquilt

I must agree with Dj and Abbigail about not signing blocks but I do like the idea of a separate signed piece of fabric. What about including a 3 X 5 inch strip of white or muslin fabric with name, forum name, city and state? These pieces could be used by the owner in whatever way they wanted to make a label for the back of their quilt.
