Re: What are you paying for GAS???!!!???
you need to be careful when filling your tank. GAS CHECK
THIS IS GOOD TO KNOW........ .. I never thought of this, but shouldn't be
surprised that this may be happening, so I think I'll check it out the next
time I stop to get gas. ? This is actually very good?for the next two weeks
I am going to pay for exactly 10 gallons of gas of as see what happens.? We
saw on the news the other night that this is happening everywhere.
Brian pumped exactly one gallon of gas. The price did not match the cost of
one gallon, it was higher. He went inside and complained, got a refund.
There is also a number on each pump that you can call and complain. This is
a true story, so read it carefully.
On April 24, 2008, I stopped at a BP gas station in GA. My truck's gas gauge
was on
1/4 of a tank. I use the mid-grade, which was priced at $3.71 per gallon.
When my tank is at this point, it takes somewhere around 14 gallons to fill
it up. When the pump showed 14 gallo ns had been pumped I began to slow it
down, then to my surprise it went to 15, then 16. I even looked under my
truck to see if it was being spilled. It was not. Then it showed 17 gallons
on the pump. It stopped at 18 gallons. This was very strange to me, since my
truck has only an 18 gallon tank. I went on my way a little confused, then
on the evening news I heard a report that 1 out of 4 gas stations had
calibrated their pumps to show more gas had been pumped than a person
actually got.
Here is how to check a pump to see if you are getting the right amount:
Whichever grade you are using, put EXACTLY 10 GALLONS in your tank, then
look at the dollar amount. If the dollar amount is not EXACTLY 10 times the
price of the fuel you have chosen, then the pumps are rigged. In my case as
I said the mid-grade was $3.71 9/10 per gallon; my dollar amount for 10
gallons should have been $37.19. I wish I had checked the pump. It doesn't
matter where you pump gas, please check the 10 gallon price. If you do find
a station that is cheating, contact the state Agriculture Department, and
direct your comments to the Commissioner- -info is on the gas pumps.
Please don't delete this until you have sent it to all people in your
address book. We need to put a stop to this outrageous cheating of customers
The gas companies are making enough profits at honest rates.

We paid $3.75 at Sam's in southeast Iowa yesterday. Woohoo! Unfortunately, it's about an hour away from our home...we just happened to be there. Gas in our town dropped to $3.99 yesterday.

Our gas is $4.19 it takes $85 to fill the minivan and $45 to fill my DH's sidekick he has to fill up 3 times a week beacause he has to drive 70 miles each way to work
Re: What are you paying for GAS???!!!???
Here in Canada, we have metric system. it's "litres" instead of gallons. (it takes 3.785 litres to make 1 gallon). Yesterday, 1 litre was $1.43 ($4.29 per gallon). We have a Dodge Caravan, when it's almost empty, it costs $90.00 to fill it up. No need to say that we don't do errands if it can wait. We usually wait when we have couples to do.

Gas here where I live in Maine is $4.14 a gallon and it is costing me about $90.00 a week for gas. Living in the country sure does have it's pros and cons.

Re: What are you paying for GAS???!!!???
We are paying a bit less than Denise. Here in NS it's $1.40 liter.
We are blessed in that we have a lot of bus service even though we're in the suburbs. There are lots of walking paths throughout too. Like Kathy I work 5 min. from home so it doesn't cost me much in gas.
DH got a motorcycle license and boots around on that. He has lots of appointments each day so he drives a lot.
The kids and I walk to the library and pool and we can walk to the grocery, if need be. We tend to buy lots of food at once so I drive. (guilty grin)

Re: What are you paying for GAS???!!!???
We were in a small town recently and noticed that many of the homes there are up for sale. Beautiful little town, but so far away from where they work that they can't afford the driving. what a shame.
Gas here today is $4.10 in Kansas City, MO. Last time it was under $2.00 a gallon was June of 2005! (a little trivia)
