Re: Crazy Quilt Swap - Homeward Bound
This sounds like such a fun swap! Like, I really NEED to join another one-lol! My only concern about joining this swap is the embellishments. I can't quilt it on the frame is it has buttons and such on it. Although, while I'm typing this I'm thinking I may be able to just quilt AROUND the stuff. Hmmmmmmm.....
I'll give it some more though and get back with you. Amie :oD

Would everyone rather leave the embellishments off?
The blocks will be 10" finished so depending on the batting you could just do a stitch in the ditch around the blocks or just tie it off instead.

I'm ok if people want to put "fancy" stitches on theirs but I'd rather not have raised things like buttons or ribbon flowers on the blocks. I think just the plain blocks would be great. Just my thoughts. ~Abbigail~

I may be crazy, but I think I'll sign up for this one. (And when I typed that I realized that the crazy lady is signing up for the crazy quilt...)
What about lace on the quilt block? Does that count as 'raised' or not since it could lie flat? I agree with Abbigail about the buttons and raised things on the blocks -- I could always add some of my own later to my finished quilt if I wanted to. I don't think we need to add fancy stitches over/near every seam either. I'm more of a plain jane and don't get really fancy.
I've been thinking along the lines of calico fabrics, but there is a very bright crazy quilt that I found online that can give you ideas for how to make a block.

And one last clarification... Are we supposed to sew these on muslin backing?

These are some scrappy crazy blocks that I'm doing on another forum for a charity. I like the border around the block. ~Abbigail~
