I have no problem at all with waiting for any members to get theirs finished. I'd rather wait a bit for everyone to get them in than not have the beauties from my friends in my quilt! ~Abbigail~

Re: Crazy Quilt Swap - Homeward Bound
I'm willing to wait if DJ still wants to do them.
So far I have made 11 (or is it 12?) blocks, and I think I have re-done something on all but one. The first one I made has been taken apart and almost completely re-done at least twice. I'm keeping that one because you can see all the (billion) needle marks on the muslin.
I've used a cut once and sew sort of method. I stacked up nine or ten fabrics, and cut through the stacks. Then I mix and match the pieces into squares and sew them onto the muslin. The basic part of the block has gotten 'down to a science' but I forgot to figure in the seam allowances on the first set and the blocks turned out small, so I had to add to the outside edges. Then I'd decide that they needed tweaking, and I'd be ripping out stitches again.
I tried to use the 'decorative' stitches on my machine, but discovered that even though there are about 25 stitches to choose from, only about 5 are truly decorative, and only two or three are really useful. So I decided to use very little embellishments unless I get around to hand embroidery before I mail them. My carpal tunnel is acting up with all the picking out and re-doing the blocks and the 'fancy' stitches, so I have to take breaks every so often.
I hope no one minds, but I used Fray Check on some of the muslin edges. When I square up my blocks, I do it for appearance from the top of the block, so the grain is not always straight on the muslin and it had spots that wanted to fray.
These are taking longer to make than I had expected, but I'm enjoying seeing the results.

Donna, don't stress, I am more than happy to wait on anyone that needs extra time. I know that I have had to ask for extra time in other swaps and I know how busy one can get with life.

Absolutely fine with me too-- I'm in no hurry. I've been running behind on lots of things this month. May is always a busy, busy month for me--- Mother's Day, birthdays, vacation, etc.

Re: Crazy Quilt Swap - Homeward Bound
Let me see what I can get done this weekend. I haven't been able to make myself stay in the house except to take a shower and sleep. On my way to the hospital to have a sonogram of my left leg. I have been having some pain, my brother (a doctor) wants to make sure its not a clot in there. Whew, please I don't need anything else to deal with.

Dj, I pray that all will turn out well with the sonogram.

Things go best when they are easy - no rush - no pressure - no stress - no hurry - no worries.
