Re: Fall Block Swap - Closed
So far so good. I found the fabric, 2 are Moda, 1 is Hoffman. All were on sale at 3 differnt locations. Anyway I made one block and it worked. I have the rest cut out, now to get to sewing.
OH, the fabrics are reds and golds and all 3 have differnt fall leaves. It's so pretty I may have to try to find more fabric and make a quilt for me. LOL

OK, dumb question or maybe it has already been asked. About how many total yards of fabric are you all buying for the 20 blocks??

BTW, I forgot to mention...I was thinking around 2 1/2 to 3 yards for all 20 blocks. Sound about right??

Kim, it sounds right to me, but I guess it might depend on what block you are making. I'm no expert.
I bought two and a half yards and after I go all the parts cut out I have about a third to a half a yard of each fabric left. (I had a terrible time trying to figure out how much to get. I finally figured out how much of each color I would need for one block then multiplied that by 20 and rounded it up to even yards.)

Finally found a pattern to use. Union Square from Quilters Cache. Have 3 blocks done and I have to say.. they are turning out pretty nice. I might have to make a few extras myself. The fabric I got for the center block would be PERFECT for a quilt for the cabin!
I just hate that I have to go to work, now that I have this pattern figured out... I just want to stay home!!!

Due to several blunders I have made, I have run out of the green fabric for my blocks--! Oh, Lord, I hope there is still some left at the fabric store! Don't want to drive all over creation to locate some.
Two yards of each would have been sufficient for my blocks had I not made numerous mistakes...<sniffle>

Maybe if you let us know what the green is some of us might have some to share?

Carole, can you post a picture of the fabric you are short on? Or let us know the manufacturer, line, etc. It might just be that someone here has some in their stash...you never know!

Thanks, ladies! I found some with no trouble, thank goodness! I bought another two yards because I think it's pretty and I want some for my very own.
Was VERY well-behaved in the fabric store, by the way...marched in, found my fabric, proceeded to cutting table, and then to the register double-quick! NO NEW PROJECTS until I get a few more UFOs done and OUT of here (have 4 here waiting to go to their owners!), and these blocks are done. As we were leaving, my 10 year-old commented that I deserved a reward for being good...I told her I would take *another* trip to the fabric store as my reward! She and her sister groaned as Ma and I laughed...

WOW, Carol I never would have been able to do that. Went the other day to but a few small cuts for a purse. Ended up with some for a pillow and then a whole kit for thanksgiving! (Next thanksgiving that is!)
