Oh Lovely!!
I'm 'sew' pleased you caught me before I started on the other blocks today... I've managed to get home for a few hours in-between dropping off and picking up the 'wee ones' to and from school/play school...
Here are the fabrics I'm using... I've managed to cut out and sew the parts this morning. I shall put the blocks together maybe wednesday if I get chance...
Love and hugs and happy sewing ladies!!

Had so much fun with the Feb blocks, and as I am still under restriction (I can ignore the outside chores for awhile longer), I will join the March lotto. Also, I sent Tina a check for postage, batting and backing.

My story: If you read my story (in the Feb lotto thread) about Sean O'Malley visiting my classroom for St. Patrick's day, then the story continues as Sean references the Easter Bunny in his last letter to the class before he returns to Ireland. He tells the students that he is best friends with EB and EB will be visiting them for the next 3 weeks or so. Then over that next 3 weeks we find an Easter egg here and there, with a letter from EB. Of course we have to respond, and learn reading and writing in the process. On the last school day before leaving for Easter Break, EB leaves us a letter with a clue for each child to follow, leading to his Easter Basket with an Easter Egg full of candy for each child . The students loved following clues so much they begged for more (and they could read better by then), but that was the last of the "holidays" for the school year.

Hi Teresa, I will participate in the March lotto. I do have a couple of questions about the overall block size. Are the construction information correct that the final block size is 12.5"? I read other numbers and what to make sure.

Put me in four 4 blocks. Rick

Welcome Everyone!!!!

Rick - Please let me know what you see so I can change it to make it right or clearer. Each Half Square Triangle (HST) and 4-Patch will measure 4.5" before you stitch them all together to equal at least a 12.5". Mnay times it will be a fiber to two bigger but a ruler must be able to square it up to 12.5" with nice 1/4" seam allowance.
If you are using the make 4 or make 8 techniques you will need to square up the different sections. Hope this helps but again please let me know if I worded something strange :)

Linda - I am almost sad not to have been one of your students. How very special you made all the kids feel during these special times. I am thrilled that I know you now and read about how special a teacher you were and all these wonderful memories to treasure and share. How wonderful it would be to find out years later that one of your students would go on to be a teacher just like you :) I will also add a $ next to your name. THANK YOU for supporting the Comfort Quilts.

Jacquie - Love your fabric choices! Am looking forward to seeing your blocks. Your picture of the girls and you was a true treasure for me yesterday in a very cold, windy, cloudy but no rain day. I must share it with everyone. Jacquie with Granddaughters Phoebe (in the middle) and Eliza

A tip for everyone: You can also add in some small leafy prints as well. Every flower needs leaves and I always see butterflies, ladybugs and birds in the spring :)

HAPPY STASH DIVING AND STITCHING!!!!

Hi all, thanks Teresa for sharing my picture. Yes, these 2 lovely wee ones are my Granddaughters Phoebe (5yrs) & Eliza (3 yrs)
I've been helping our with school runs these last couple of weeks and having a lot of fun.

My Easter egg memory includes these little ones. My parents hold an Easter egg hunt every year, as they did for my daughters when they were smaller along with their cousins Jonathan & Theresa.
The little ones would first make their Easter egg baskets prior to Easter Sunday from card and embellishments to decorate.
Then Easter Sunday we would attend church while my father; AKA Easter bunny would stay home and hide the eggs ;) I think he had as much fun as the kiddies did finding the eggs!
Each of the children were given a coloured piece of card then sent out into the garden to 'hunt' their eggs. The children would look for the eggs with their coloured piece of card attached, funnily enough the older bigger children would often find 'their' eggs higher up in trees or hidden in the more difficult to find areas of the garden. The funniest time was watching Jonathan; the eldest child trying to obtain his egg which was situated on top of the rock in the centre of the pond! Hahaha...
It was a great day and enjoyed by all! Most wonderful memories!!!

Hugs all! J xxxxx

I love Jacob's Ladder block so I am changing my mind about joining this month! Your directions do seem a bit confusing, especially for inexperienced quilters. This pattern is also on page 33 in Eleanor's Underground Railroad Book. And I have a question: You show your sample block to be just 3 colors/fabrics. But you say you want scrappy. Are we to make each block scrappy or just to send a variety of 3-color blocks? Or does it matter at all?

Thanks for changing the block. I just didn't have time to do the more complicated 16" blocks, but I love this one.

Welcome back Mary!!!! I understand and should have been more on top of the Treasure Chest. This cold has taken part of my mind away. I felt alot better about the month when I changed the block.
THank you also for Eleanor's directions. I knew I had the directions in a book but now I know why I couldn't find it. I had loaned that book out.
I reworded about the 2-color picture of the block. Hope I clarified it better. Thank you fer letting me know. MUCH appreciated!!! Can't wait to hear your story. I know you will have a fun one :);

Thank you, Teresa! The only problem I have now is trying to decide on which fabrics to use!
