We've done mountain/lodge theme so what about a SEASHORE theme? (or lake)
PURPLE PASSION? Anything goes as long as it's purple?
PATRIOTIC? We did our state blocks in R/W/B about 3 or 4 yrs ago, but this could be just anything patriotic.
Who doesn't love a PICNIC!
DESSERTS! There's more to "afters" than cupcakes!

This is great! I too have almost had a mental block!! LOL Good one Chriss.
MaryZ- I would love to host the lake or seashore swap or the patriotic one. I missed out on that one you all did before, and would love one of those.
These are all great ideas and I hope more will give some input. Looks like there are several cat lovers out there. I bet most of us have cats. It would be interesting to find out how many of us have cats...
Thanks everyone, keep the ideas coming....

I have held an ugly fabric swap on a different site several times before that everyone seemed to enjoy. Here's what you do :
Each person finds the ugliest piece of fabric in their stash ( no you can't go out and buy one ! ).
They get sent in to one person and are sent back out randomly to a different person.
Once received you have a set amount of time to make whatever you wish to make with the ugly fabric, but you MUST be able to recognize it in your work.
Post a picture of the item you have made.
If you want to, you can hold a contest for who's fabric is the ugliest, or who has used the ugly fabric in the best way.
It is fun to see the ugly's and to see what is made. The only swapping is the ugly fabric at the beginning of it. Usually about a fat quarter or more is a good amount.

you girls have lots of great ideas, keep them coming.
The reason we usually choose WOW is so the blocks have something in common when we put them together. I have to say I have never made a block without either white or cream. Give me some ideas of other colors to use. And if we used black would we also use bright colors to go with?
Here's what we have so far
Cats
El Sampler
30's
Black background
Stars
Ugly Swap
Sun Bonnet Sue ( Tina)
Lake or seashore ( Vinae)
Patriotic ( Vinae)
My plan is to start one of these swaps after Vinae's butterflies and before Tina's Sun Bonnet Sue so keep those ideas coming.

WOW Great Thread Chriss - Looks like everyone has some FABulous Ideas that are actually coming up later in the year. How awesome is that! PERFECT!!!
Tina asked me in the beginning of the year if she could be the Hostess of the Christmas Swap and asked if I wanted to be the hostess of a Halloween Swap.
I have always wanted to make a Quilt using a Black Background and Bright Colors so I suggested this idea and she loved it. We talked about starting it after the Christmas Swap.
My inspiration came from this quilt but I didn't like all of the blocks. I was thinking of making different stars but still undecided. If you have any ideas please let me know.

I also really LOVE this quilt but I am thinking the colors would need to be a little bit brighter. You would all choose a color and make 20 of them BUT I am getting ahead of myself. I wanted to share my ideas with you but I have a vacation to take first

I like the seashore, and like the patriotic swap. I am on the quiltingboard and we have a themed pin cushion and needlecase swap. Also in a themed mug rug swap .
