charms
small pieces of fabric of different patterns and colors, often square and all the same size. Charm quilts are scrap quilts composed of these charms. The goal in these quilts is usually to use as many different fabrics as possible, in small squares.

this is a definition I found somewhere

Here's a link to a very interesting article about the origins of charm quilts.

Thanks!

Ok, Sign me up too!

I went to our lqs and they didn't have any fun novelty prints for St. Patty's day. All they had was the usual selection of greens. So is JoAnns fabric OK?? They had some fun prints last I was there.

You can also do solids too. Doesn't have to be St. Patty's related, but it can. Lori

Please sign me up for swap..
Any greens ,gold will work. I thought swap was just St patty fabric., so didnt look any farther till now. Maybe if you put in heading also green, golds fabric will help with number of sign-ups.

I chose my fabric today. I know I could have done solids but I think of the holiday swaps as a chance to get to buy and actually use some of the novelty prints that come out. I always look at the novelty fabric and then don't know what project to do with them, so charms are perfect. You can mix in lots of noveltys without it looking too crazy.

I'd like to sign up to do this. I am new to swapping charms. I take it that you make enough charms for the number of people who sign up so for instance if there were 30 signed up we would send in 60 charms and do both charms we send have to be the same fabric or can we send two different sets of fabric.

I think I would like to be included in this one. I have lots of ideas and know i have lots of perfect fabric! Just to clarify...2 charms in each ziplock bag(either 8 or 5 inches depending on the #signed up)and 1 ziplock bag per name signed up...correct? nur5e
