2024 Secret Santa Hints

Post by maryq » Sun Aug 11, 2024 7:10 am

Ok Everybody,

Here is where you will post your hints/idea for your Santa.
I'll start, to give you an idea of what I'm looking for!

(Y'all know my name  )

My season is SPRING! While I love Christmas, of course, I don't have much in my house to decorate for Spring. And I'm not fussy, in other words I'm not looking for something specific. I could use a table topper, a couple placemats (only need 2) or a little something to hang on my front door. We're not allowed to paint the outside of our doors here. :( I have two coffee tables that I like to keep covered to prevent scratches, they were my Auntie's. But in the grand scheme of things I'd love anything that says SPRING!

Favorite colors: Navy blue, teal, pale grey. Oh and I like Red too

Least favorite colors: Orange!!! and that old avocado green.

Favorite Fabrics are: 30's, Batiks, some Orientals.

Not really my cup of tea: geometrics

A small item I may wish for: a really good one that will last through several evenings with Jack.

If I'm not sewing...... I'm knitting or reading (What other hobbies to do you enjoy)

Other than quilts what do you sew: I sew pencil cases and little pouches for school kids and can always use 9"-14" zippers if you have any laying around. And I sew misc. things that I can sell at Craft Fairs. I do a lot of machine embroidery too.

Imagine sitting on Santa's lap......what would you ask him to bring you from his little Elf helper: Bring me a man that will cook and clean and do odd jobs like install light fixtures and replace carpet etc. A bonus if he is a good kisser! ( he didn't bring me one last year, so I'm going to ask again.)

National chain near me: Hobby Lobby, Joann, Target, Walmart, Chipotle, Dairy Queen, McDonalds (had to throw some food in there :-) we gotta eat when we go shopping right?) And there's always Amazon.

That's about it!

Hi from Judi/Grammiequilts....
My season will be summer...maybe a table runner with watermelon fabric would be cute...but any summer will be ok...I would love placemats also...
A little something i might need would be a frixion pen or a package of those needles you dont have to thread,,,
I dont need much and I hope you don.t spend much...something you have around your sewing room would be ok...used quilt magazines,,,or books you dont want anymore...
my favorite colors are Red Blue and green,,,but something in yellow would be good too/
I am really not an orange or brown gal...
If I was sitting on Santas lap (He would probably complain about it) I would ask him for happiness for all my quilty friends and that he would deliver what ever is on your list....I would also assure him that we are all on the nice list.
I am trying to teach myself to hand embroider,,,but cooking and reading cozy mysteries are my next favorite thing to do.
most all the major chains are near me Joanns, hobby lobby, Michaels, and as Mary pointed out Food fromChic-filit wouldnt hurt my feelings..xxxooo

My name is Tina/Gershwin64
My season will be Spring or Summer, I don't seem to have anything for either of those seasons so you can pick. I'm really easy, I love everything and appreciate everything made for me and sent to me ❤️
I can tell you I don't have anything for St Patrick's day, 4th of July or anything Summer at all....kinda weird huh. We now have a very big table that seats 6 at all times and then when the kids come over we seat 8 but as far as a table runner I prefer kinda smallish.... say approx 14+-" x 24+-". You can make me placemats, table runner, mug rugs, pot holders, hot pads, whatever will be great with me, I'm easy. Or you can come up with something else is fine.
A little something I might need....I can always use frixion pens, mechanical pencils, fabric markers or a charm pack you may not want, even a mini charm pack.
I really don't need much and you probably don't even need to spend anything, I'm sure you can shop in you stash for things that you don't have a use for.
My favorite colors are purple, greens, teals, reds......but I love pretty much all colors. I like things that say happy cheerful to look at in colors.
My favorite fabrics are 30's, civil, floral.....
Not really my cup of tea is wild crazy loud fabrics, they maybecalled geometrics LOL but I'm not sure.... maybe they're 70's fabrics but I don't have a clue really....gawdy is how I describe them.
If I'm not sewing I'm doing yardwork, housework, looking at quilting magazines or on Pinterest. I do read but I'm behind in my series so really don't need to add to that 🤣😂
Other than quilts what do I sew..... placemats, bears for critical kids, but mostly quilts for family and I do make Quilts for Kids organization.
If I were sitting on Santa's lap (hahahahaha) I would ask him for .... gosh I just don't know, I think I have everything I need really, my scissors are sharp, so is my seam ripper, I have a tin of wonder clips, ....I think I'd just ask for everyone to have a great time.
National chain near me: I really don't have any here but 60 miles away there's a Hobby Lobby, Joann's, they also have a DQ, Chic fil A, Target and I do order from Amazon too.

I think that's about all I can think of....

I have Internet here in Alaska! And a few minutes to myself. I might be updating this as I get time to think more. First of all, my thanks to Mary for hosting again. I hope we have lots of participants.

And I actually was sitting on Santa’s lap two days ago! Remember, I am in North Pole, and Santa‘s house is only a mile down the road!Image
(I am the one on the floor)

Fabrics, I love include plaids, florals, all seasonal, batiks, Hawaiian, 30s, polkadots. Landscape prints like water, sky, wood, bricks, rocks, plants. I like to compose scenes for wall hangings.

Fabrics I do NOT love include geometrics, very large prints, or anything that hints of the 70s.

My favorite colors are blue, green, turquoise, purple and a little soft yellow to make things pop.

My least favorite colors are orange and brown

My seasons would be spring or summer. Floral; Americana, etc. I could use a runner almost any size from 5“ x 18“ to 12”x 48” as I put runners in four different places in my living and dining rooms.

In my downstairs family room, my decor is kind of lodge type with deer, elk, fox, wolf, moose, bears, etc., and plaids in dark green/cream or dark red/cream. A runner in that room could be 12x30 for the coffee table, OR our buffet can take up to 12x48. OR a Single placemat or small topper to put on the 18”sq. table between our lounge chairs. Lots of choices!

My kitchen is red walls/black counters/wood floor. It kind of has a wine theme going or cats. I could use potholders with loops for hanging.

I can always use a new seam ripper. And I have a small collection of thimbles from different places.

The magazines I subscribe to are McCalls Quilting, BH&G’s APQ, and BLOCK. I would love looking through old issues of any other magazines you might want to pass along. Or any patterns you are done with. I also love cozy mysteries.

I am happy with pre-loved items. I’ve always felt they bring good energy into my sewing room, so I would be honored if you shop your sewing room first.

My name is Vinae

My Season is Summer: I would like anything red white and blue, or watermelon, or of course lodge look (my favorite). I could use place mats, table runner/topper, pot holders, or mug rugs. What ever you feel like making.

The colors in my house are mostly neutral, browns, grays, tans. I have lodge look everywhere. But for holidays, I decorate with the traditional fabrics of the Holiday or season. Love Christmas, Fall, 4th of July, and Halloween.

I like most fabrics. Not a fan of 30's, drab looking colors, geometric, or pastels.

Favorite fabrics: Lodge look, rich vibrant fall earth tones. Can always use background fabric, in white, cream etc.

If I was on Santa's lap, I might ask him for a couple of bowl cozies that can go in the microwave, or a new apron.

National Chain near me Hobby Lobby, Joann's, Costco, or Amazon.

If you have old patterns for Lodge look anything, I would love that.

Howdy my name is Katy
My season is spring. I could really use an 18 inch round table topper or a 14 by 18 square one. This for my side table in my living room. Or a table runner for my dresser in spare bedroom. Maybe in blue and rose and light green. Anything you make I will appreciate and use. I use everything my past SS Have made me.
Something I can always use is another seam ripper. They seem to walk away. Or some fixon pens.
I really dont need much . Oh Maybe some machine needles.
My favorite colors are purple ,teal, green, rose and blue. I really like all colors except gray. My favorite type of fabric is 30's , floral, or holiday.
The type I do not like is geometrics and civil war.
I love to read cozy mysteries . Used ones in my opinion are great. Basically used ones sometimes are hard to find.
And I do love old ones as well as new.
If I were sitting on Santa's lap I would whisper in his ear that I need a boyfriend who can cook . He needs to be able to dance and take me out to eat and go to quilt events. I do prefer Blue eyes "lol"
Hopefully he will be a great kisser and like to cuddle.
National chains near me Hobby Lobby ,Joanns ,Walmart, Dairy Queen ,Mcdonalds, Hardees. and Amazon.
And if you want to throw a surprise for Barney in there he would love it.
Thats All Folks

Hello everyone and to my wonderful Elf who has me this year. I'm getting there ...
Katie has a beautiful Blue and White quilt that uses lots of 6.5” sqs. Her theme is Snowmen. There is fabric made in Blues and Whites. But she also compliments it with other blue prints. NO SOLIDS PLEASE. I have pleaded and begged to enjoy it but she said not until she dies. Well I see her outliving me the way I am going and that is perfectly OK. We have FUN together 

I have a new home in FL so I am thinking I could use a 3 block 14ish” (red in center) Log Cabin Florida Colors. My kitchen is brown but will soon turn to green cabinets. Way to much brown!!!! Don’t go to wild. I’m thinking Coral, Blues, light teal, sky, FL green, fish and then whatever you think.

Favorite colors: Light blues, white on white soft designs

Least favorite colors: No Orange, avocado green, oriental colors

Favorite Fabrics are: 30's, Batiks, some Orientals.

Not really my like: geometrics except on QIAD Mechanical pencils I think by Lori Holt;

A small item I may wish for: Sew Tasty - Sew Fun Purple and/or or both Yellow Nail File by Hemline; Position and Press Silicone Tools,

If I'm not sewing: I would love to have this KINDLE Book from Amazon. “Pawverbs for a Cat Lover's Heart”: Inspiring Stories of Feistiness, Friendship, and Fun. I will give Mary Rob’s email address to send it to at the right time and the things underlined, please.

Other than quilts what do you sew: To be honest I have tried but it always made me remember times and I would become depressed. Working on it. Due to a breakdown from our friend Scott gone missing in 2020 and just now found in March 2024 under the worst circumstances. Plus physically getting bit hard and deep by our cat (not his fault, I startled him) we found out that I already had HUGE and LOTS blood clots up and down the right leg. Had emergency surgery and a filter put in. This happened at the end of January and still recovering so I haven’t been sewing since 2021. Courtney and lots of therapy will help me get back to what I love to do.

Imagine sitting on Santa's lap......what would you ask him to bring you from his little Elf helper: Please bring me a medium bag of M&M’s to share, a Chocolate Orange for me, Snickers bar for him and a Starbucks Card for us  I have a man that will cook and clean and do odd jobs like install light fixtures, laundry and vacuum carpets etc. Plus a good kisser so I am blessed. BUT I would ask the Real Santa to help me heal so I can do all the things my hubby does and get back to sewing  !

National chain near me: I don’t know what quilting stores are near Deltona, FL but I am sure I will find out although Courtney said I couldn’t until I shop in my home first and USE IT!!!!!! Plus I am still not allowed to drive yet

That's about it!

Hi everyone, My name is KathyR. My favorite season is Spring & Fall, spring because of the bright colors and fall because of the cooler weather. My favorite colors are blues and reds, but I really don't have any least favorite. Small item I would wish for maybe a small ruler. When I am not sewing, I enjoy reading and playing cards with friends. Other than quilting I help the church sewing for Dress a Girl or Boy around the world to with dresses and shorts for children in need. If I was sitting on Santa's lap, I would ask for peace in the world. I live in a small town with nearest chain store about 50 miles away but we do go there probably once a month for somethings, Hobby Lobby, Micheals and Joann's.
