Kyna, I love Your Elf Block !
I was looking at the gingerbread swap information thinking I might get up the courage to join. I have never participated in a swap and have not appliqued anything in years, so I was uncertain.....then I came across your elf and just loved it ! Do you mind telling me where I can get the pattern ? I will probably not join an applique swap until I practice a bit, but I would love to give both the gingerbread man and the elf a try and see if I can manage a presentable applique block. They are so cute. Thanking you ahead.

If you click on the thread by sewcarolyn - that says 'ready to start some gingerbread men...
Ask Carolyn for the pattern - I'm sure she will send you the PDF. I believe she is on vacation right now - so it will be a few days.

you can either ask her right in the thread by 'add a comment'
or click on her envelope next to her name and send her a pm (personal message)

swtsarahjane, I am not exactly new. I joined the forum a couple of years ago, but other than making Christmas Stockings for the Troops in 07, I have not been active here as most of you have. I really love the forum and come here when I can get the time, but that is not as often as I would like. I have made quilts through the years, for my children and grandchildren, but don't consider myself a highly skilled quilter. A few times when I have posted a question here, I have had good, helpful responses and have come to know there are some really special, people here. I am pretty active with my 6 grandchildren and like to make things for them, but I have been thinking I should make a quilt for myself, since I have never done that. I once hand pieced and hand quilted, but have some arthritis in my hands now, not a lot, but enough that it makes the hand work more of an effort, so I will machine piece it, and send it out to be quilted when I get it made.
