I have never joined before but have been thinking about trying a month and Paper piecing would surely make me consider waiting another month or so until something I know I could handle came up. Don't get my wrong, I'd LOVE to learn how, but not on something that people are counting on a decent job well done. KWIM.

I would like to know what the Lotto would be for Feb. though :)

I love spring colors early on, but then love jewel tones, Christmas fabrics and other holiday themes.
I love flowers, so the tulip block, even raw edged, would be great. Love Sunbonnet Sue. I'm pretty agreeable with anything.

I don't know if I've ever done paper piecing or not... that sounds funny, but if it's turning under the raw edges using the paper pattern, then appliquing it down and removing the paper, then, yes, I've done it. But if it's that thing where you turn the pattern up and the fabric underneath and sew, then, no. It looks too difficult for this old dog.

I agree with Michelle. I think that knowing what the next swap will be earlier would be nice, just in case we have a little spare time to work on those earlier. I can never wait to see what's coming up!

I like star blocks and I like mauve and gold colors. But really all the blocks are very pretty.

Just for you "got to know" type of people. I do have an idea in mind for February and it's in the Quilt in a Day Pioneer Sampler book......but... I can't find the pattern just like this one on line and if you don't have the book... well, it would be a problem. I have a PM to the management to see if we can get permission to copy and send to those that don't have the pattern. They are away so I think they will get back to me after their holiday weekend. http://www.quiltinaday.com/shoponline/b ... s.asp?pg=3scroll to the bottom of the page.

It's the Rocky Mountain Puzzle, top row, middle block. Done in colors like shown in the photo, solid white background, blue print points, yellow border around center square and multi center square.

Now this is NOT written in stone!!!!! If we can not get the permission to copy and send the pattern I'm not going to ask every one to buy a $9 book for a lotto block. So we all have to wait and see.

I don't have a preference. I like them all. PP was a bit daunting.
Otherwise I'm game for about anything as long as I have the fabric.

I doubt I would do a Paper Piecing block. I can do it, and they come out great - but I'm a get it done quick type quilter and prefer rotary cutting and quick piecing.

Last year I participated in about 1/2 of the lottos -- before things got where I got too busy to even LOOK to see what the pattern was.

Like maggiestew, I want my Lotto blocks to come from my stash, so I may not particpate each month.

Is this the same block...your Rocky Mountain? Looks similar to me... I am not in this but wanted to help!

apolta,

This pattern is similar but the center"log" block is thinner and I like the look of the wider. We may end up using this one.
