rotary cutters
I have a small olfa, 45m. I think it is and I am not very fond of it so ordered the Clover 60m, I just wonder if that is a good one.. It seemed rather expensive but if I like it then it is worth it.. do any of you have that kind and if so how do you like it.. I just placed my order tonight to QIAD.. so can change it if I have to. Thanks, Mary Ann

Re: rotary cutters
quilter78, 60 is a rather large rotary cutter. Why were you not fond of the 45mm? If you aren't cutting through oodles of layers, you don't need one that big.

Re: rotary cutters
I use a 60mm exclusively. It's easier for me to use and the blades last alot longer.

quilter78 - to each his own. It's personal preference so you'll just have to see which you like better. I have a 60 but rarely use it because it seems to bend or wobble and I don't have as much control as I do with the 45. Let us now which you like when you try it out.

Re: rotary cutters
Most of mine are Olfa's. I particularly like the ergonomic handle, very helpful for my arthritic hands. I recently purchased a Clover, but after trying it a few times, find I keep going back to my Olfa's. My fav size is a 45mm, but I sometimes use the 28mm, too.
It probably boils down to what works for you, what you find the most comfortable, etc. Good luck, hope this one works out for you. Keep us posted.

Re: rotary cutters
I always used the 45mm one unless I was cutting thru many layers. Recently I started using the Clover 60mm and have stuck with it, I love it! In fact, I love all the Clover cutters in all the sizes. Another favorite is the Ergo 2000 because it is easy on the wrists and hands and you can even cut sitting down.

Re: rotary cutters
Several years ago at a quilt show I bought an Ergo 2000. I love it. It's a 45 mm blade and I can cut up to 8 layers accurately. It's a little weird to get used to, but once you do, you won't go back to the others. (don't pick it up and cut into your good fabric right out of the package)

Cool - it now comes in a 60 mm blade.
My second favorite cutter is the gray Fiskars. I passionately dislike the Olfa 'stick' cutters. They just aren't comfortable to use, and it is extremely important that the handle is raised up enough so the cover doesn't drag on the fabric.

knitnoid - it the Ergo 2000 a Martelli cutter? I've glanced at those. I'm hoping to see one at the quilt show so I can try it out before I spend the money for one.

Re: rotary cutters
I love Clover cutters! Even better than my my Olfa's.
I use 60mm most of the time too. I like to cut my quilts out quick, cutting through 4 or 5 layers at once. Amie
