Clover Desk Needle Threader

Post by Tiggersmom » Thu Jul 26, 2007 8:02 am

Ok ladies, you all did it this time!!! lol
I heard rave reviews about this product so I bought one......with the wood stand........and now I see on the package it says to use with Clover Needles........ummmmmmhmmmmm.....I don't have any of those, will it work correctly with other brands??? and it says to use with oval eye needle, not circular or embroidery....

I've noticed embroidery needles, like how can you not miss that huge eye, but where on the packages does it tell you that they are oval and not circular??????????

Mine works with most needles. There have been a couple that it didn't thread, but even size 12 quilting needles have worked. Just try it with any needle you want to thread - I don't think you can hurt it.

Clover police will not come hunt you down! Use any needle that works.

I bought one the other day. Haven't tried it yet, but the lady who sold it to me gave me some great advice!

She said do not cut your thread until after you have threaded the needle. This way your thread is going through the material in the correct direction and it won't knot up as much. Haven't tried it yet, but sounds logical.

I have one and love it.. At first it took a little time to get used to.. I was putting my needle in very carefully and holding the thread too tight... just drop your needle in and don't hold thread too tightly for it won't be able to hook the thread.. If you look at it real close you can see how it works. A lot like the one on the sewing machine.. I use all needles and even the small hand quilting ones. I would be lost with out it....Mine doesn't have a wooden stand but it is the clover.. It is purple in color.

I'm a big fan of the needle threader now that my eyes are older than I am. LOL Sure takes a lot of frustration out of doing hand work. I would like to find one that would accept larger needles and embroidery thread. Any suggestions out there?

I have never bought a clover needle and I use the thread all of the time. It works great for me.

You may have to turn the needle to get it in the right position for threading.

This threader has got to be one of my favorite notions. I bought mine a couple of months ago and I love it. I use any needle, but I do find that it doesn't work on some, so I just grab a different needle. It is such a time saver and eyesight saver too. This I think would be great if you travel by plane because you don't have to have a pair of scissors. Just pack all your pre cut pieces and you will have everything you need to do some hand piecing or quilting.
