My big plans for the website

Post by QIAD-Linda » Thu May 17, 2007 6:43 pm

Good news! Andy will be with QIAD at least through July! Hooray! I have big plans for that boy's time. We are going to revamp our sale fabric section so that you can select fabric by manufacturer. Also, within each manufacturer I will have coordinating collections placed together. This takes the guess work out of trying to determine if color and scales work together.

I also plan to reorganize our Notions section. I will have cutting tools together; pins, needles, pin covers together. Etc.
I reorganized our catalog this way and think it makes a lot more sense when you are looking for something specific.

Do you have any ideas that we should consider?

Linda

Sounds good! I especially like the coordinating collections placed together.

Wouldn't it be nice if a 5th subject, maybe "Gallery" could be added under the notions title. Then a certain book, like Quilts through the seasons, could be the book for a month and we could post pictures of any quilt made from that book. Or like this month we are doing the stockings, and pictures of them could be posted or the Kansas quilt blocks. Whichever QIAD(Linda) chose to be the book/project of the week/month. It would limit the quilts being presented and could be changed/deleted each month so as not to get too large. I love to see pictures of everyone's quilts/projects.

How about adding T-Shirts and sweatshirts. We haven't been able to get any for a couple years and I miss them.

Just did my shopping. WHEE!!!! Question - Am I doing something wrong. When I add an item to my cart, I can not get back to where I was shopping. I click on "continue shopping" and it takes me all the way back to the beginning. If I use my back arrow, it removes the item from my cart? Is there an easier way and my lack of computer knowledge is showing?

Oasis - Great idea about having a "Gallery".
My day job is as a computer teacher in an elementary school.

One thing to think about - the procedures for uploading jpegs (pictures) has to be easy enough for quilters of all "computer" backgrounds.

Also - I notice that some quilting sites that display quilts - the photos are too dark to see all of the details.

Photos of quilts in the Gallery can be thumbnail pics and then the visitor to the site can click on the thumbnail and a larger view would pop-up.

It's almost as if pics need to be sent for the Webmaster of this site to "fix" and load.

The Gallery idea is very good!

I also like the idea of sweatshirts - especially hoodies. I wear my QIAD tee shirts with pride, but in Minnesewta it gets cold and we NEED hoodies.

Down here it is HOT 9 months out of the year and we need tank tops - the kind that men wear but the arm holes are smaller. Thanks.

Sounds like we need: Hoodies; Tees; and Tanks with the QIAD logo or suggestions for a logo of our community forum.
