What's your favorite size rotary cutter?

Post by calicopuzzle » Mon May 14, 2007 3:08 pm

I have several sizes of rotary cutters. I would like to know what your favorite size is. Mine is the original size 28mm. It is getting very hard to find that size now. I used to get the Fiskars brand for a reasonable price for a two-pack, at Walmart and now they don't carry them at all. Recently at a Hancock Fabric store up here in the Midwest they had only one package on their rack which I promptly bought. Do you have a favorite?

I mostly use the 45. I have that great big one but I don't seem to have as much control with it so I never use it.

I also like the small (28mm) ones...I also am having a hard time finding replacement blades!

I have all 3 sizes mentioned but my favorite is the 45. DH likes the 60. It is way too big IMO. The little 28 is great for small pieces though.

All I've ever had or used is the 45mm. I keep thinking about a big one to cut through many layers, but I havn't done anything about it yet.

I have no idea what size it is. Maybe medium? I saw and thought, that will work and bought it. I have a few different sizes.

I mostly use the 45. Bought a 60 because someone told me they liked it better, but I still like the 45.

I have a 45 and a 60. I use the 60 most often. Wrights is coming out with a new 18mm cutter to go with their EZ Circle Cutter. Seems like a good idea but haven't seen it yet.

I learned how to "un-sew" with my rotary cutter from one of our QIAD teachers. It sure saves me a lot of time when I make a mistake! Have to be very careful not to cut the fabric.

Newark Dressmaker Supply carries 28mm blades. Also Home Sew both are on the net. Maybe this is something that QIAD can start carring? I use the 60mm cutters. Just purchased a ergonomic one & am able to sit & cut with it, which I like. I usually by my blades at Jo-anns with the 40-50% off coupon. Just a heads up ladies, Wal-Mart fabric department is going away. They are selling out of the supplies they have & then it is gone. No one is admitting this at the store level, but a friend who works at another fabric store was notified by the corp of Wal-Mart that this was happening. Good luck!
