When using the EB goose ruler, How do you know what size your block will be for the stars. Thats if you are doing your own block.

What pattern are you making? I have the rulers and it comes with instructions for the size of geese you want to make.

I just need to know how I determine how big my inside block will be when making a star and using the geese ruler. Maybe I am not explaining myself well.

What you are asking is what size to make the center block if you are using the fg to make stars? Are you trying to make a specific size block? Or do you have a fg ruler that you want to use?

When you trim down the fg the width of the fg is the size of the center block. The first number is the height and the second number is the width..hope this helps..

Or maybe tell us what size fg ruler you are using or what size block you want to make..we can figure this out..

I made the star log cabin and the stars were made in the borders. Don't know if this helps.

I purchased both large/small geese ruler, preferred large had brain blockage with smaller..Included instructions were helpful. Besides larger was much nicer, and quilt done rapidly..

For my 1st attempt made babyqult from scrap colors, and arranged them in 3rows, 3inch border to divide them..Did show/tell in my MPQ qlt quild and members loved the big blocks verses smaller.

Test Run you'll have your preference.

Hello everyone..I am wondering if someone can help me figure out what size to start out with if I want an unfinished geese to be 2" x 3 1/2"..I have the large EB ruler and so far I have done 2 to what I thought it would be and they are not coming out to that size. I also read there is a chart somewhere that will help you but I don't know where to look for the chart. Thanks for any help.

Proudspirit, You would start with a 4 1/2" square (geese) and a 6" square (background). The QIAD geese rulers are marked with the FINISHED sizes, so use the one that's marked 3" x 1 1/2".

Wait, I think she has the geese OK, but wants to make a center square, what size it be? is what asking.. Yeah? Sounds like her pattern in a star uh??? Evening star??? Does it make more sense?

Let's see your fly geese is how long? A square is all four sides same, therefore, length of geese, same as square sides, plus what 1/4 for sewing? Is that heading anywhere?
