Babylocks

Post by Chrissy1 » Mon Jul 20, 2009 1:27 am

WHile at the street rod show I got the opportunity to use a Babylocks sewing machine. There were several things about it that I really loved and wondered if there are the normal these days in sewing machines. It has an automatic needle threader, a sissors thing that cut your threads, it has a needle down YAH WOO and on the 1/4" foot it has this bar which is totally cool that guides you so your fabric doesn't go way over the 1/4 inch (who me :))) and then on the foot there is this like 2 cornered piece of metal where where you get to it and you want to turn your fabric, it makes the perfect 1/4 turn no guessing. I am still not even sure how the bobbing thread got connected with the needle thread but it was amazing. Is it unrealistic to think I can find these things on other machines also. I am sure I will never need all of the fancy stitches, etc. Thank you

Yes, most of your newer machines have these features. I have Janome machines and all that is on them. Makes quilting and sewing a breeze. Love my machines. Marge PS How is that walking foot (or even feed foot) working for you.

I have a Viking that has all the goodies on it. Almost all of the newer ones have some "fancy" stitches, but you'd be surprised about how you can manage to use them.
I'd suggest you look at a Viking Sapphire. It has a really big bed for quilting and I don't believe it has embroidery, which I would never use anyway.

My White brand machine has all the "goodies" for sewing/quilting. It is a nice sewing machine. I also have a computerized New Home with lots of decorative stitches and features to use. I seldom use my serger which I thought I would.

I own a Babylock machine and I just love it. I have had no problems with it and I have sewn a lot over the past two years.

I have a Janome MC6000P and it has all that and a built-in walking foot. I love my machine. So the answer to your question is that Babylock is not the only machine with those features. Most brands have a comparable machine, even Sears (Kenmore) which is made by Janome and is priced really reasonably.

I have a Baby lock esante. It's a combination sewing and embroidery machine. When I had it serviced, they could not adjust the tension on the sewing part of it because they did not have the code to do it. So I use it for embroidery only and it works great. I also have a brother machine with lots of decorative stitches in it and it is the same machine my sister has, by the way, she joined this community forum too, she is Spicey. So now we both have the same machine and the same computer. A lot of the same things except she doesn't do machine embroidery. I haven't done a lot lately as my eyes are not what they used to be. Well take care and have a great day, Huggies, Fay
