Label pen

Post by Chrissy1 » Mon Mar 02, 2009 1:00 am

I was given two amazing labels to choose from, from a wonderful member here. I was wondering what everyone uses to write on the label? It was recommended that I use a pigma pen but haven't found one yet. Thank you

Pigma pens are the best. Be sure to stabilize the label on freezer paper before you write on it.

I have a set of Pigma pens that I bought at JoAnn's several years ago with a coupon! And Norwich is right about the freezer paper (thanks for the reminder!!!).

Pigma pens can be purchased at places like AC Moore or Micheals in their art supply aection. I bought mine there a few yrs back. Once you get them keep them in a plastic baggie sealed and they won't dry out. I have had mine for over 8 yrs. Marge

You can use a gel pen and heat set it with an iron. It won't wash out. I have a table runner I used gel pens to color some of the fabric print and it has been washed many times and the color is still bright.

I bought a pigma pen but it seems very very thin, almost like writing with a needle. Did I buy the right thing? They had what appeared to be different sizes but I wasn't sure which to pick. A quilt a lady made our grandson has a wonderful signautre with just her name and the date she made it and it is readable and doesn't look like hen scratch. HELP, please!!!!

Chrissy I use the pigma pens. I think I get the 05 size. It will say on the end of the cap. Works well. I heat set it with the iron afterward. Hope this helps.

I think that I have ruined a couple of my pens. Like a fool, I wrote on an unused drier sheet and the softener stuff has clogged the ink from coming out now. Should I just toss the pens or is there a way to clean off the tips?
