Yesterday I wrote about my Fiskars rotary cutter breaking, but that problem is solved because I ordered another one online from Joann's and got in on their 40% off sale. Yay! I'll send my broken one in to Fiskars to be replaced when that one comes.
Today my 30 year old Kenmore sewing machine broke!!!! And I have so much sewing to do!! The motor is burned out and there is no power left. We'll go to Sears tomorrow and buy a new machine. I want to try another Sears machine because I have my old one in a cabinet and I love the height and work surface area.
I hope nothing else breaks!! Janie

Well, you'll love having a new machine! So much fun

) I think the auto thread cutter is the handiest thing since the automatic transmission, lol! Amie

Better than the auto thread cutter is the needle up/down feature.

ditto knitnoid!!! On my last machine, it quit working and I thought, oh well, it's no big deal, I can sew without it...
WRONG! I took it to the reapair shop that same day!! LOL!
I also love the "locking" button--where it sews in the same spot to lock the stitch! I love my Kenmore and it's WAY cheaper than some others.

You can't have auto thread cutting without needle up or down feature, the needle has to be in the down position to cut the thread. At least that's what my manual says for my machine. So get thread cutter and you get both features.

I have a kenmore also and just love it. My first machine was also a kenmore so I just keep sticking to them and you are right that they are not as expensive as others but they do have a lot of bells and whistles.

I got another Kenmore, but this one does about a zillion stitches - I don't know if I'll ever use all those stitches! I sewed all afternoon and got some tension stress in my neck and back from working at a different height than I'm used to. I took breaks and relaxed in a different position. My hubby will try to fit a bracket into my old cabinet so the new machine can sit down into the space and be lower. If we hadn't had all the ice and rain today, the 2 meetings I was supposed to go to wouldn't have been canceled and I wouldn't have had such fun sewing on my new toy!

I had a Kenmore machine and I really liked it - she ran like a charm. They are made by Janome, did you know that? Like an idiot, I traded mine in and now I wish I would have kept it because it had one or two features that my Janome doesn't have. Enjoy your new machine.
