On page 14 of the current issue of Clotilde's catalogue they list the Zip Bind Tool. It states "Finally you can have perfectly stitched machine binding. After binding is stitched to right side, this ingenious tool holds it whil you stitch the second row--without pins or hands." Does anyone have this tool? It cost $29.98, so before I buy, I want to know if it works, also what happens at corners. Thanks for any feed back.

Is this the Martelli Zip Bind? If so, there are different pieces that work together. There is a miter tool to do the corners, Zip clips to hold it downs you stitch. And then the binding tool. I bought all of mine as a set in Paducah for $79 or $129, I can't remember which. Anyway, I have learned to use the first two, but have never used the Binding tool. I had to order a new set screw (it was brand new and didn't fit right. I think I lost motivation by the time they sent it. I haven't used any of it lately. I think I can do a better job on my own.

I have that tool and just gave up on it and think it was probably a waste of time and money they make it look sooooooo easy but when you bring it home and don't use it for a while oh well the rest is history . But I do love the fons and porter binding tool .

I have the Fons and Porter binding tool and I guess I am just a goof ball. I haven't gotten the hang of it yet. I would apprecite any and all help in using it.

Debbie I use the F & P binding tool......most of it anyway....I follow the pictures through all the steps EXCEPT when it comes to joining the 2 ends together. I do measure and cut the two pieces as they tell you to then~ ~ ~ this is the only way I can get it to come out correctly for me ~ ~ ~ i Put the top 'tail' with the right side up and the 'bottom' tail with the right side down....then I sew from the top left corner to the bottom right corner at the diagonal just like you would be doing when you put your binding strips together. Then I trim off the excess so I have the 1/4 inch seam. Press the wrong sides together with your fingers and stitch down . . . it fits nicely. I haven't figures out how to do it when I follow their step #6. Somehow mine always gets twisted and sewn backasswards.

The other item I haven't seem work or have no clue about.
Wish some of these dealers would let a real person try it out at the demo's before we buy all these gadgets.

I have the whole set with the zip clips, zip bind it tool and all. It was $75 I think at the Houston show. I think the zip clips are nice. they replace the use of pins, but they're not essential. I am working on becoming proficient in the use of the Bind it Tool. I'm getting better--3 throws done. It may end up being worth the price. I really use the DVD that shows how to use it. When I do use it correctly I get a gorgeous binding on the back and the stitches on the front do stay in the ditch.

I've never tried the Zip Bind tool. I prefer to hand stitch my binding to the back - just personal preference. I do use the F & P binding tool and love it. Perfect binding every time.

I watched the demo and chose not to buy. I just hand sew my bindings down in the back. I use those little springy snap hair clips to hold them down. Much cheaper.

I have the zip clip tool, but much prefer using the hair clips that snap. I can never get the zip clip to zip onto my fabric the way they show it. Not to mention the hair clips are much more in my budget.
