Hi All, I remember seeing this post some time ago about the Aunt Becky finger protector and was wondering if any one new has tried this method of hand quilting. I came across the video with Jean Brown and as I am always looking for ways to improve my hand quilting thought I'd bring it to the experts (you guys). I know it's not that expensive but I have enough junk in my notions drawer that I don't use without adding more. Any thoughts?????????? Jan in Punxsy PA

Would you believe I have about five of these? We had a workshop at guild on how to use them and members bought one. Most of the members didn't use them after the class so many ended up on the guild rummage table. The members that did keep practicing with the Aunt Becky loves it. It speeds up hand quilting and doesn't seem to strain the hands as much.

Hey Sewbug, would you be interested in selling one of those? I'd be glad to buy one if you don't need all 5:-) Let me know. It looks like something I might like to give a try.......Jan

I had to search for one and found it on a road trip this past spring -- but it's still in the package in my sewing box. Haven't made time to try it out. I'll keep in mind the need to practise before giving up. It looks like it would work.

I'm not real sure how to explain the Aunt Becky finger protector. The best thing to do is go to quilterstv.com and look for the video 'hand quilting with Jean Brown'. It's this metal gizzy (for lack of a better word) that you wear on your left hand and you bring the fabric to your needle. It looks like it would take some practice but is supposed to make hand quilting faster and with less strain. I still haven't gotten up the nerve to order it yet. What I don't need is more junk that I don't use. It's not expensive but I don't want to have to order the whole shebang to be able to use it. jan

I just saw a video with Jean Brown using the Aunt Becky finger protector for hand quilting. I hand quilt and would love to come up with a way of doing it quicker. I have at least 10 quilts waiting on me to quilt. Does anyone know where I can buy the Aunt Becky finger protector and also the rescessed thimble?
Thanks for any help. I just became a member tonight.

I am working on my second lap quilt using the Aunt Becky tool. I really enjoy hand quilting useing this method. It takes a little practice but it is well worth it. Watch the video and you will be happy you took the effort
Enjoy, Lee
