If you are close to a Home Depot store, a no steam iron is sold there too. Save on shipping.

I had a cordless maytag that lasted about 18 mos also. I wish they made irons like they used to with some heat behind them.

I am now using a Rowenta with the removable reservoir. Unfortunately I dropped the insert one day on my ceramic kitchen tile. It now has a tiny leak. I haven't taken the time to try to seal the leak since I don't use the steam feature much.

I like my Rowenta. But I also manage to drop them off the ironing board....UGH I had an Oliso, was nice but it started to spit too. didn't drop it.... The only trouble with the Oliso is you get used to not having to stand it up and then when you go to a class or someone else's house you end up leaving the iron down. I had one of the portalbe ironing pads that I would press on at my cutting table. When I had the Oliso it was really too hot when left down and warped my big while cutting mat, that is expensive to replace.

For Christmas I splurged and bought myself the Rowenta Steam generator. Love it...... But for piecing and pressing small pieces and blocks as I sew I use my other Rowenta, but when you get to put all the rows together the generator is great.

I have been using Black and Decker irons for years; I love them! They aren't expensive and get nice and hot...last one lasted 6 years or more.

Unfortunately, the one I have now is only about 2 years old...my mom's dog has gotten tangled up in the cord at least a half-dozen times and pulled it to the floor...she's a real dork! After all that bashing around, it works but definitely doesn't get as hot as it used to. I'm getting ready to replace it with another Black and Decker.

I'm glad I read this post this morning. I'm having an iron issue. I might just go get me a Black & Decker. Does WalMart or Target sell them?

Cindyg, I find mine at Target (it's only about a mile away!), but WalMart probably has them, too...

Good luck! I hope you like your B and D....it's payday, so I'll probably go out and get my new one today!

I was at WalMart over the weekend and bought a $13 Black & Decker iron. It has the auto-shut off feature which is a must for me because I tend to get side-tracked. It worked great last night so we'll see how long it'll last.
